Pondok Nyoman is a MUST STAY!!

This was my third stay at Pondok Nyoman, and once again I wasn't disappointed.

It's a little out of the way, about 300 metres off the main road, and walking or motorcycle access only, but worth the walk. Nyoman has had a pool installed since I was last there, and the views from the pool, and most areas o the property are fantastic. Breakfast, which was very good, overlooking the valley is a must!!

The rooms are well appointed, beds comfortable, and wifi reliable and fast throughout the property.

Nyoman and his staff are very helpful with advice, and always ready for a chat!!

I book direct so that more of the $$ go direct to the owner, and a better to deal to you.

Pondok Nyoman contacts are

sugiarta.nyoman@gmail.com and

WhatsApp +62 8155 8100429

Enjoy your stay!!

This property is a little difficult to find. It's south of Baturiti, and I went to a restaurant that had a sign Pondok Nyoman, but it wasn't the place. Apparently it's the same owner, and a lady who was going to the homestay took me along with her.

The sign at the road indicates 100 metres, but it's more like 300, with the last 100+ barely a metre wide. No car access, just motorcycle.

Not all rooms have great views over the rice fields on the other side of the valley, but those that do, are the ones to book. Nyoman is expanding, adding another room and a pool lower down.

The room was very clean, with furniture made from wood that looked as though it had been eaten through by termites, interesting if a little unusual. The bathroom was spacious, a cross between a traditional Balinese bathroom, and something more modern, but there was no towel rail, so the back of a chair did the job.

For a homestay whose business is mainly foreigners, there were no TV channels in other than Bahasa Indonesia!! I don't go on vacation to watch TV, but it is nice at the end of a day to be able to watch world news.

The breakfast menu was small, but adequate, served at your room or on the entry level with the bet views.

WiFi was patchy, and there were a lot of dropouts.

I like my one night stay here, but I thought with all things considered, Rp350,000 was a touch expensive.

You may get it cheaper if you book direct, but that generally entails wading through a lot of agencies first before their website comes up. If you search "pondok nyoman website", it may come up on the first page.

Staying at this place was a terrible experience, the room we stayed in was (as admitted by the owner, Nyoman) humid and mouldy and the smell was unbearable. No AC, just one fan, only Indonesian channels in the TV. We had no water in the bathroom all night and in the morning had to look for someone to report it as there was no contact number in the room. The access to the place is difficult. As we checked in first we were informed that breakfast is included, then it turned out it is not. We packed and left in the morning just to be out of that place. I would not recommend this place nor stay there again.

We stayed 4 night in Pondok Nyoman. The room was okay, bu the view was excellent. Right to the ricefields. Nyoman, the owner is very friendly, he came for us to the airport and he came with us for for a one day trip. I can recommend it to everyone who want to enjoy the nature of Bali!

Stayed with my family during 3 nights. Mr. Nyoman, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. He was always asking us if he could do something for us. It is very peaceful, with view on the rice terrace and with a pool. There is no AC in the rooms and it was not needed in July, since the air is fresh in the mountains.

It was the wedding of his nephew during our stay, so the guesthouse was very well decorated and lots of neighbors attended. He agreed to giving us a room far from the main reception area since we had a young kid with us (although, in the end the reception happened during the day). The rooms are modest and clean. Simple breakfast options are included with the room.

At the time of our stay, our room was not cleaned during our stay, nor there were towels provided for the pool. I am not sure if it was because of the wedding or it's always like this. The guesthouse does not serve dinner, but there is a restaurant accessible by walk (5 minutes).

The access to the guesthouse might be difficult for a disabled person. We parked the car down a path (accessible with motorbike or by walk) and for most of the rooms you need to use stairs (guesthouse located on a cliff). We requested help for our suitcase as they were not rolling very well.

In a nutshell, we liked our stay at Pak Nyoman's guesthouse.

The hotel was very quiet. You have to walk a little bit from the parking place, which can just fit 2 or 3 cars. But it is worthy if you want to relaxe. The food is fine. When we arrive it was Hari Raya Galungan, and restaurants were closed. But the owner, who owned a restaurant cooked for us.
The view of the padi fields dan mountains, with sunset was extraordinary.

This place is great! We were very skeptical when first booking but as soon as we arrived we knew it was a perfect choice!

Stayed here for two nights, and it was beautiful and very peaceful. The hotel helped to arrange a driver to visit temples, natural springs, botanical gardens and Gitigit waterfall.

The rooms are comfy and clean, much better than expected, and the view each morning was brilliant!

Don’t miss out on this, even one night is enough, a great escape from busy Bali

Pondok Nyoman is a really nice place To stay. We had a wonderfull view from our room located directly in front of a rice field. The owner and the staff are very friendly. My wife got sick when we arrived and they organized immediately a doctor coming to the guest house. The next days they cooked special meals recommended by the doctor so that she got well soon. I can really recommend that place.
