The accommodation is located about 3 miles from Muonio off the road so it is quiet. The lady who ran the centre was very friendly and helpful. We booked a two roomed apartment as we wanted to have our own sauna. The apartment was quite compact and traditional. There is only wi fi available in the reception area.
We ended up at Loma Olos due to a last minute accommodation change with Transun. We didn't know what to expect as there were hardly any reviews, which we later found out was due to the owner having only been there for 4 months. The place is beautiful and has a massive lake out behind the accomodation which creates a 360 degree view, in a wide open space, which is ideal for seeing the Northern Lights on (if you're lucky enough to be there at the right time!). The accommodation is fairly old-fashioned and traditional and very comfortable and very warm - we were in the apartments which are single storey, 2 bedroomed, with kitchenette, private sauna, tv. The bathroom floor is heated which was a luxury after coming in with cold feet! There is no nightlife anywhere in the area, other than the restaurant bar which is open until 11pm, so do not expect liveliness! Nights are spent either sleeping ready for a hectic day, or watching for the famous lights, or sitting chatting in the big wooden hut that has an open fire in the middle of it. The tiny town of Muonio is about 3km from the resort, which takes about 20-30 minutes to walk, however, Jari the resort owner was regularly driving down and gave us a lift whenever we needed one - he is a lovely man who always has a smile for everybody and does everything he can to make your holiday as perfect as possible. Currently, as he has just taken the place on, there are not any of the high-level facilties such as snowmobiles, but I expect this will change and there is the cross-country ski track, the woods and lakes, free use of the snowshoes, sledges, kick-sleds and fishing stuff. Jari will happily help to arrange snowmobiles or huskys for you if he can, at the nearby Harriniva Holiday Centre - I would strongly recommend booking these in advance online a couple of weeks before you go though, as the husky's in particular have a long waiting list. Harriniva is about 8km away from Loma Olos, but transport is available either through them when you book, or through Jari. Although Harriniva is where all the activities are, Loma Olos has a far nicer, more relaxing and personal feel - we thought it was well worth the extra travelling.…
