Very nice and well equipped cottages. Good breakfast included. Don’t forget to reserve the sauna by the lake. It is the best one on earth! The place is run by a local Sami woman and her husband. Really nice people!
Friendly service and good breakfast. However, avoid the old cabins. They have some serious issues with the indoor air quality. It stinks and I woke up with a blocked nose and red eyes. No matter how inexpensive the price is - it is unforgivable to risk the health of your guests. (Nearby hotel would have cost the same)
Friendly welcome and spacious cabin. Good breakfast included with plenty of choice. Lapp hut, sauna and great swimming in the lake. Wifi is available in the breakfast room. A good base for exploring the appalled Park with its wildlife and stunning scenery.
We traveled to Lapland without really knowing what to expect. We were very excited and our hopes were high, but we were blown away. It is an amazing place! We knew we had come to the right place when the family in the chalet next to ours told us this is the best place to come to ski in Finland, they lived in Helsinki so we took their word. We managed to see the northern lights whilst laying down in the middle of the frozen lake. Even just looking at the stars is next level as I have never seen a sky like it. The food was excellent, home cooked food done to perfection, exactly what you need when you have been out all day. Sauna and jumping in frozen lake is highly recommend as is jumping on a skidoo and going flat out across a frozen lake! If you can go. Go.
Highly recommended excellent accommodation and good value for money. The owners Pekka and Tarja went out of their way to make you feel welcome and provide valuable on local activities. There are 2 types of cottage available 60 m2 and 96 m2. We stayed at the latter. It had 3 bedrooms (one a mezzanine space) with 2 beds each, toilet, shower room + sauna (a plus!), living room with fireplace and full kitchen. Very clean and warm. Everything worked. We didn't eat in the restaurant often but the food was good when we did particularly the desserts which were homemade. It is always buffet service but Tarja made additional food for fussy children at no extra cost. You can rent cross-country skiis and snowmobiles on site. There is a cross-country track which cuts through the site with a map board. There is also a kota on the lake where you can make a fire/cook and an ice bar where drinks were served on New Year's with a small fireworks display.…
The row house we got was a bit dated but absolutely in ok shape despite that. The beds were not as comfortable as one could hope for downstairs, but the beds on the second floor were better. Price/quality ratio is definitely ok.
Sarkijarven was our place to stay for a week for a group of 8 people. We all loved it !! the situation is great, far from big mass tourism. it is surronded by forest, lake, ski roads lighted by night. The accomodation are just perfect, in finnish style, hot enought by -40 outside :) well designed and equiped. we had different styles of accomodation and all were great. The owners are a wonderfull couple who knows how to make you feel great , almost at home. Tarja is the Chef Cook and gives you a great overview of finnish food. The restaurant is big enought, food is always good and different each evening. Special recommandation to the cooked salmon, just georgous. Peka, her husband is a really good driver to bring you from place to place, he also likes to make you taste traditionnal liquors at the ice bar, heat the traditionnal sauna perfectly well, and entertaine the kota while having lunch there. All makes a perfect team to make you feel a wonderfull time. I surely recommand it !!!…
These inexpensive cottages offer budget accommodation by lake Särkijärvi for a decent price. We stayed in a small cottage for two and found the accommodation to be basic but mostly acceptable. The wifi only works in the restaurant, the breakfast was pretty basic (porridge, bread and eggs) and, most of all, the shower is a small stall that is annoying to use, but mostly everything else worked fine. Just remember to turn on the radiators for the night. Bear in mind that the price is right and the sauna by the lake is free.
