TRADITIONAL BEAUTY Finland’s first fell hotel, a great monument to functionalism, was designed in 1938 by architects Väinö Vähäkallio and Aulis Hämäläinen. After the Second World War the traditional Lapland Hotel Pallas was built. The living spaces, highlighted by the breathtaking scenery, comfortably fit in with today’s style. The library is full with stories by guests who submitted their experiences for others to read. A weekly program that considers the guests’ wishes contains downhill skiing as well as pancake making. Some of the most popular activities are ski trips, guided by the Owls of Pallas. There is permission to have a small meeting — of a kind — in the Owls’ loft. Experience the most beautiful of the fells, along with other national park landscapes with the many others who return to us year after year.

Second visit to this hotel!!! Yes its dated and the sleeping arrangements are questionable. However the place is magical, I have never felt so Christmassy relaxed and welcomed. The staff are so genuine and friendly. The food isn't the best, However you wont go hungry, There is always something to feed on. There isn't many all-inclusive hotels so this is very good value for money. The environment is great everyone had the best time, No complaints. My son is 17 and still had the best time sledging. We were also fortunate enough to see the northern lights for a second time at this hotel. I would defiantly recommend, And hope to return to Pallas again. Dont be pushed into booking excursions by the TUI reps, The tasters will give you the taste of the Lappish culture. In total we spend 9 euros spending money, And had the best time.

My husband and I travelled here on Boxing Day with our 9 year old son for a Tui Santa trip. It has been one of the most magical times of our lives. Well organised by omnipresent Tui Reps, you arrive in the wilderness of a snow drenched National Park via a circuit of tree-lined roads where Reindeer can be spotted amongst the trees and yours are the first tyre tracks of the day. You’re greeted by elves at the airport, cheekily throwing snowballs, who accompany you throughout on the extra trips and offer a host of activities for kids and grown ups from snow shoeing and husky sleighs to camp fire songs and 24 hour sledging. The elves are magnificent, multi-lingual, informative, ever perky and full of wonder. We stayed 3 nights - Enjoying a reindeer ride on a frozen lake (slow but extraordinary), a trip to the Snow Village (jaw dropping carving) and an extra Huskey Ride through a moonlit forest (just wow). We met Mrs Claus who sat with us quietly and gently, listening to our son with such beautiful attention. We met her husband as part of the Festive Finale on the final night - appearing as he does in the snow and then meeting families one by one with equal measure of quiet mystery. Faintly but still there, we saw the Northern Lights in a star pricked sky on our final night. The hotel itself is a fell hotel, built for skiing and walking sometime after the war. The staff are gentle and kind. The rooms are more akin to youth hostels - basic but functional and perfect for getting in and out of layers of snowy garb. They are warm and you can’t open a window - so be sure to pack some lighter things to sleep in. It is so relaxed and easy. The food is fine - Finnish, buffet style. And there’s always snacks and sweets around - little cakes and drinks. If I came again I’d have packed my slippers to pad around the hotel in. All this with the backdrop of the national park in all its winter beauty. I could have stayed in its silence forever.

Ski resorts tend towards party, bars and booze although many visitors come to Lapland for the nature, the amazing fells, the quiet and the awe. Although there ought to be, at present, there are no organic, green sustainability respecting resorts, yet Pallas Hotel comes close to it. With its exquisite gourmet food, refusal to refurbish everything with plastic and new paint, its ice swimming pond, incredible views, history and tradition, it is the only Finnish hotel that qualifies as a Nordic equivalent to an alpine resort. The dozen fell tops at your fingertips, the wooden interiors, the laid back homely ambiance, the wild fauna and flora, the quiet, the views, the library rooms, the kitchen, the kitchen and the kitchen, and the chef... It is a gem for nature and hiking lovers.

Omg this was my trip of a lifetime. Something I’ve dreamed of since a small child and dream come true at 46yrs old! There was just me and my husband with another couple and no children but that didn’t deter us. The hotel is in the middle of a national park and is so unspoilt in its surroundings. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it added to the experience. Food was a bit bland but nothing bad about it as it was edible. Drinks were a bit sparse and staff were busy all the time so the bar got a bit packed at times. Only downside was I expected a nice big fireplace but it’s tiny and they only put two small logs on it at a time. Hey ho, we are in LAPLAND. The whole experience just was amazing. Can’t fault the hotel staff and elves. All very pleasant and someone always about. Definitely a trip of a lifetime and would definitely return again. Maybe take the grandkids one day!! Dog sledding and snowmobiles were the best. Miss out on the reindeer ride as that was way overpriced and a big disappointment unfortunately.

Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park is amazing and the nature is very unique. Visitors can go cross country skiing, snowboarding, free skiing, snowshoeing etc. The food in the restaurant is very good and traditional for Lapland. Pallaksen Pöllöt which is a local skiing school teachers fellowship arranges all kinds of activities during your stay. These experiences are one of a kind. The hotel is very dated. I’ve visited there for nearly 30 years now and no changes or renovations have been done. It would be shame not to renovate the hotel because the location is so unique. The truth is that the price is way too high for that level. The history of Pallas should be valued and respected, now the management is only ruining it and letting the hotel grow moldy.

Wow. A lovely holiday, perfect in every way. TUI we’re excellent in the organisation and entertainment. Excellent for kids, very safe and great sledging. The hotel is what it is, we found it authentic and cosy. You don’t spend much time in rooms so this was perfect for us. Trips were well organised. The staff and elves made us so magical for the children. The big man himself was amazing! To top it off the lights made an appearance on our last night for the New Year ( and my birthday! 😊) don’t hesitate to book.

What can I say, we arrived into Kattila airport and once we got through and collected our bags, we were then met by elves who by the way are just amazing. You then go and get your snow gear and put it onto the coach. By the way as you exit the airport you are greeted by more snow than you have ever seen. The. On the way to your resort we were going past trees and trees with snow on all the way singing Christmas Songs, magical from the start. Then when we arrived we went straight to our room and got ready and straight to the snow. The elves and tui reps then took us sledging to the big slopes. The next day was the taster sessions with the husky’s and snow mobile, snow ball fights, hot berry juice and around the camp fire. Then back to the lodge for snow walking and snowman building. There so much more than everything I am writing as well. The food was good and plenty of it and unlimited drinks on some drinks, all soft drinks, beer and wine. The last day we went to the husky farm to ride the husky ourself, it was unreal but make sure you wrap up properly as it was extremely cold. The finale dinner was just unreal, Santa walks past the window your eating at and when I say Santa, this is the real deal. So much entertainment that night and then you see the big man before you eat which was an unbelievable experience. The tui team and the elves made the holiday what it was, they were incredible and put everything into it. The best bit about here is it’s in the middle of no we’re and nothing commercial, just magical. We will be going back, it was just outstanding

I’ve been waiting 46yrs to come to Lapland to meet the big fella and I can honestly say Lapland lived up to my expectations. The elves and Tui reps were very happy and welcoming. The hotel was clean and festive. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy and were topped up daily with clean essentials. Not sure why people are complaining. Yes it’s not 5* but for the amount of time you spend in the room, who cares! The only thing that was needed was an English TV channel that played Christmas music in my opinion lol. Food was buffet style and plentiful although limited option but enough for everyone i fee and I’m a fussy eater. Drinks package could’ve been a bit better with more of a selection of own branded spirits. Excursions were pricey but expected. Huskies were good fun as you get to ‘mush’. Snowmobile in the evening in the Arctic Circle was the best. Guides were amazing and it was so beautiful and again you get to drive and can swap. Sleigh ride however wasn’t so great and felt a little cheated. Aimed more for the kids I feel. We had a magical time overall. Would definitely recommend the Snowy Wilderness Lodge aka Hotel Pallas as lots to do on site with the very deep snow and even the big man lived up to our expectations.
