A lovely friendly pub full of jolly locals, a lovely landlady and a clean well equipped room followed by a gorgeous breakfast and all at a VERY competitive rate - what more could you really want ? If you love old pubs, quirkiness and dogs this is for you !

Cheap and cheerful - did just the job for myself and a friend while attending a wedding at the nearby Rushpool Hall (5 mins taxi, 20 mins walk for the brave). Full English thrown in. I did have to get up at 2:30 am to let out a barking dog that had become trapped in the bar area, but otherwise...

I stayed for 2 nights at the Wharton Arms in Skelton while walking the Cleveland Way. This is primarily a traditional old pub and accommodation is more of a side-line in some ways. Yes the interior is dated and in some ways it's like going back in a time warp BUT the positives far outweigh the negatives in my view....

We enjoyed our stay here, it's obviously a locals pub and to be honest could do with a lick of paint, but we had a huge room which was clean with working TV and shower, breakfast was ample. the landlady was helpful and friendly. Definatly worth what we paid and would stay here again if we were in the area.

Point 1 it is in Skelton not Saltburn; Saltburn is 'lovely'; Skelton is not. I couln't get into my room when I arrived; no record of booking. There wasno-one available in the morning to make breakfast and then I got charged twice. The room was large and clean enough; it was an old coaching Inn. No thanks
