This place is almost hidden away and we were delighted when we entered the grounds ! Simply gorgeous . Reception is via a video entrance door! Initially I was concerned about parking space but we were soon directed to a large secure car park which was next to our rooms! Our rooms were simply stunning ! I need not say any more as others have said the same. The staff were just so helpful . There was as pre order process for breakfast. The order form had everything we needed and when it came to the quality and presentation of breakfast , it was simply outstanding . We didn’t eat a meal at the hotel as we had ate at lunchtimes! We did a fantastic circular coastal walk which starts about 10 mins form hotel! Just ask the reception staff about the walk via the lighthouse ! You can choose from 3 routes ! We took the middle route! Best coastal walk we have ever done! Route is well signposted ! Take plenty of water! We did take water but not enough ! When we finished there is a lady selling drinks from a van! Think she did ice cream too! Perfect position .

The closest beach is just a few hundred yards down the road. However if you walk another 10 mins to the right ! Footpath through woods ! There is s as better beach without rocky coral if you want a swim ! Also a great little beach bar Cocos , not related to hotel but pretty good and very very busy! Book a table if you want to eat

I spend almost a week at the french coco hotel in Martinique. The hotel is a member of SLH small luxury hotels of the world, and my expectations were fullfilled. The room was contemporary and cosy. My room had a nice balcony with a rocking chair, a perfect place to relax and read a book. Complimentary breakfast was served in tables, with amazing fruid salad and herbal infusion. I also dined at the hotel, and had the best mojito and tuna fish ever. The service was very friendly.
Although a but pricey, I totally recommend the hotel.

Positives,
Lovely boutique hotel with excellent staff, especially Stephanie. Breakfast was pre ordered the day before to save waste and it was freshly cooked and presented so beautifully. Rooms large with a balcony and separate garden with a plunge pool.
Negatives
Pool is in shade most of the day and water is cold, there are also no facilities for a drink around the pool as these are not available until the restaurant opens in the evening.
Also they over booked and the evening before we left the UK, we were called to say they’d over booked and we had to stay elsewhere in the first night, something they had prearranged for us including an upgrade at the different hotel. Not that we could make use of the facilities as we were packing up to move to the French Coco.

French Coco is a beautiful hotel in Tartane. The rooms are well appointed, we had one with a private plunge pool. The decor is all beautiful and the walkways etc are all well maintained.

The service was excellent, Philip and his team really take the time to chat to you.

The beach is only a 15 minute walk away, Anse L’Etang, and is one of the best beaches on the island in my opinion. There are two good dining options on the beach too.

The toilet amenities are great - we loved the shower wash!

The breakfast service is a la carte - the only recommendation would be better bread. Otherwise it was brilliant!

We’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a lux stay!

We spent three nights at Frenco Coco. At the end of our stay we didn't way to leave!!! The property is amazing, the location is peaceful and very convenient to all sightseeing on that side of the island. The suite was gorgeous and well stocked with all the needed amenities. The breakfast on the terrace every morning was absolutely delicious. But the best part of the hotel is the staff - they went above & beyond to help and make sure that our stay was perfect! Thank you!

Note to start, my partner and I live in NYC, we travel frequently and have to hit the gym a larger than we like number of times per week to manage our dining out regimen. I try to provide a review that I would want to know before I go. Now that you know about us, here's what I can say about the little rock star, French Coco.

We blew in over Thanksgiving for five nights. Landed after dark but had no issue getting to the hotel once we had our rental car (used Avis, no problems. Side note, if you are flying out on Norwegian at 8am be sure to leave no later than 5:15am, maybe 5:00am if you are timid, the traffic was a bit much and you still need to return the car off site!), google maps worked fine though I heard Waze was maybe better.

Kevin greeted us upon arrival, he was ace and on point. He showed us to our room, beautiful, and explained the more local details of the space.

Pro tip: be sure to make a reservation for dinner (and all lunches), no matter what the restaurant (well, not for street boucané, but that's about the only one), just get the rez. This goes for French Coco's restaurant as well.

We had dinner at French Coco's excellent restaurant on our first night, third night and last night. There we were able to hang out with the delightful Xavier, always our day-maker, Saya, a real sweetheart, and Alan, a true gent.

I've seen grumbling on TA and other places with complaints about service and pricing, let's get into it:

First off, service, there were a couple slow moments at dinner but nothing disastrous. Though we were on vacation and not trying to speed eat, and frankly who is really that hungry, just be ready for dinner to always take a couple hours unless you go to a street spot or boulangerie. Really, what else is there to do but chill and enjoy the vibe.

Next, the pricing at French Coco's restaurant is on par with any other decent establishment in the area (Mamy Nounou for example). If you want to ball out on the lobster, that's on you, not them. But if you have the tuna app, or the fish of the day main, or really any other main, I can't understand the tears, for real the food is really nice.

Maybe the drinks aren't the cheapest in town, so have a drink in your room or go to town, for my money I want to go on a Ti' Punch tasting journey with Xavier (who ended up hooking us up with this market man downtown name Christian who makes crazy awesome Ti' Punch jams, big shout out to that man! Find him by the ice cream fellow near the soccer field in town in the afternoon, no kidding) and be able to wind my way, on foot, back to my room.

As for breakfast, they nailed it every morning, though as a crispy bacon fan I should warn that I only ordered that item once, too soft. Note, we are fans of French omelets, soft boiled eggs and soft scrambled eggs, if you are not into the soft stuff you should say something and they will firm them up. Net Net, A+ breakfast.

A bit more on the rooms, from what we saw they look just like on the website. Really lovely. Plunge pools are fantastic and so is the privacy fencing, no tan lines! Only complaint, which the staff cannot control, is that these terrible parents rolled in for one night and let their kids run wild on the property. Bottom line, don't bring young kids to French Coco, it's not a hotel for little ones and wow does the sound really travel.

It helps to go with an idea of what you want to do, but the FC crew can suss it out if needed. We hit Habitation Clement, which had an amazing sculpture garden and art galleries. Oh, and the Rhum was pretty fab as well. The 15 year bottle was hidden away but if you ask for the 10 they will pull it. We had Jessica for the tasting and she was thoughtful and had a great tip about Shrubb and Champagne, ask about it!

Note, we also went to JM as Phillipe (who is top of the pops), Maywin (I wish I could spell his name properly, he directed us to get these insane churro like treats, called Chi Chi's down by Christian and the ice cream man, boss pick my friend!) and almost everyone else said we should try. It was a lovely drive and a very cool location, tasting room there was also a great experience.

What else, there is locked parking on property. 24-hour concierge, though we didn't need it. Unlimited Nespresso, which we did need. Trustworthy housekeeping, we kept leaving cash out on accident and it was never touched. Nice recommendations for surfing and boat trips. As for mosquitoes, our first two days were bite free but the last three we got bit up a little at night. We were not vigilant with bug spray, so that's on us, I'm guessing that would have been a big help.

As for clean water/food, no issues anywhere. We ate and drank everything like we didn't care about going back to our work clothes. Street food, BBQ on highways, ice cream, pre-cut pineapple from the market, tartare, pastries, no issues at all.

Final note, for anyone who likes spicy food, like real fire. At the Carefour grocery there is a refrigerated case in the back, they sell pickled spicy peppers called something like local delicacies, do yourself a favor and get some of that action. Also, they generally have the homemade version at many restaurants, if you want some fire go get it!

Net Net, French Coco is our new island spot. Can't wait to get back to paradise!

First allow me to say that this is a beautifully decorated hotel that is clean and well designed. The ambiance and the connection between the hotel property and nature is simply amazing!!! For me this hotel had the following misses which underscores the beauty of this property:

1. Distance from the airport - to my knowledge the hotel does not offer shuttle service to and from the airport. According to a post it is possible to arrange a private car for 90 Euros each way. Limited transportation options made renting a car an absolute necessity. During my visit I noticed very few taxis on the island in general, so renting a car in Martinique is mandatory. If you depart early in the morning before 8am only Hertz and Avis are open to return your vehicle.

2. Distance from Martinique's top rates beaches - during our vacation we visited Grande Anse Le Coin Beach, Le Carbet and Grande Anse des Salines, Sainte-Anne. This hotel is extremely far from everything in the Northwestern and Southern geography of the island. Travelling there by car can be over an hour journey. The drive for the last 7 to 8 km to the hotel is very intense, because the only way to reach the property is a very narrow and curvy 2 lane road with no street lights.

3. Hotel Service - I can't say was exceptional. It wasn't bad, but at the same time I wasn't impressed. With this hotel’s pricing I expected more. Service at breakfast was extremely poor. The hotel did not offer a menu fro breakfast, which made it hard to order. We thought about eating dinner at the restaurant, but decided against it, because we did not like the service during the morning. When we arrived at breakfast, we continually had to ask the staff to add more fruit and croissants.

4. Amenities, Wi-Fi and the dipping pool/soaking tub - The Wi-Fi was barely available in our room making it very difficult to research places to visit and checking into our flight. The biggest disappointment was the small pool on the outside deck. We spent nearly our entire day at the beach and museums, when we returned we wanted to get into a warm tub to soak, unfortunately the soaking tub is not heated nor does it have jets. If it is always warmer outside the soaking tub’s water would be warmer. Because we travelled for much of the day when we returned to our rooms the water inside the tub was cold and we subsequently found no use for this amazing feature.

5. For the reasons items listed above I can not highly recommend this hotel. I did not even mention the distance to and from the hotel's parking lot, the fact that there is no beach view. Also you will be sharing the outside deck with a good number of lizards, other insects and animals.

I hope you do your research and select a hotel that is near the activities and the places you wish to visit. French Coco is extremely far from the airport, the roads to the hotel are especially very dangerous at night, and for the value I'm sure there are many much better options. I must add that I really liked the hotel and appreciate the cleanliness and the wonderful decor. While the hotel has many many misses it would be worth a limited stay, if you have a desire to visit the Northeast of this amazing country.

This hotel is listed on TripAdvisor (and maybe classified elsewhere) as a four-star property, but it seems more "five star" than many five-star hotels where I've previously stayed. The grounds are gorgeous and well-maintained; the room (I stayed in a Suite Caraibe, which was a generous upgrade from the Suite Créole I'd booked) was impeccably clean and airy, with modern fixtures and a wonderful, roomy shower (not to mention a beautiful patio with a private garden and pool); the parking is plentiful, well-lit, and secure; the breakfast is lovely; the dinner is generally good; and the staff are incredible.

I'd planned to leave a 5-star review. Then our flight home was canceled, a fact we learned at the airport. One phone call to French Coco and all was well again. I wish I could leave them 6 stars! The woman who works at the front desk during the day (Maddie, I believe) sprung into action. She was able to reserve our old room for another night (and at a reduced rate!), arrange a car and friendly driver to pick us up at the airport and bring us back to French Coco, and to have breakfast ready for us when we arrived. Unbeknownst to me, she even called the airline to see what could be done about getting our unplanned hotel stay and meals refunded. I should mention that all the staff I encountered at French Coco were exceptionally helpful, from the young woman with the wonderful smile who checked us in the first evening to the young man who checked us out. This over-and-above service is what one expects (but, alas, too often doesn't receive) at top hotels. French Coco just gets it. If you're a discriminating traveler, you won't be disappointed here.

A note on the hotel's location: I thought it was perfect. You can walk to a lovely beach (2 minutes) and hiking trail, and drive to another wonderful beach (2-minute drive) and excellent hiking trail (10-minute drive). But this is a laid-back area, on the Caravelle peninsula, so if you're seeking lots of action perhaps this isn't the spot for you. But if you're looking for beautiful beaches, great hiking, not too many tourists (or people generally), fine food (don't miss Cocoa Beach Cafe), and natural wonder all around this might be the spot for you. If you want to explore other parts of the island, though, you really do need to rent a car. But if renting a car isn't something you'd want to do, one could easily spend several happy days at French Coco and in the surrounding, walkable areas.

My husband and I spent two weeks at French Coco in July 2018. We didn't realise this was low season, and so we had the hotel virtually to ourselves, and would like to thank Philippe and his team for their outstanding hospitality. We received a personalised experience, in a beautiful hotel, perfect for our needs.
- Our room (Caraibe Suite) had a private terrace and plunge pool, and was very clean
- Breakfast is ordered the night before, from a small but perfectly sufficient menu, including fresh fruit, eggs and pastries
- The pool and grounds are kept spotlessly clean
- The setting is very intimate and feels very private at all times
- The beach is about 200m away - it is a small, public beach, largely deserted at this time of year. The hotel provides beach towels.
- The village is about 1 mile way, with a grocery store, souvenir shop and some restaurants (although note that many are closed in low season). For other shops (e.g. pharmacy), the closest place is Trinite (10 minute drive; car hire is essential for this location)
- The staff are extremely attentive, and catered for all our needs (reserving restaurants, advising on activities etc.)
- The only thing that lets it down is the restaurant, which although nice enough has a limited menu and is not as good as other restaurants in the area which are similarly priced. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, and there is no room service/snack menu.
- We would highly recommend this hotel

When you arrived in Tartane you can find on the right side a small store ( in a gas station) where you can buy some drinks and snacks it’s about 10 min drive to the hotel ! But it’s the only one store ! You can find some local products near the sea side ( ice cream, churros, fruits, pizza) but it’s depend of the time and the day. But if you need anything in the room you have a mini bar, and you can request special thing if you need with the lovely staff. They are very friendly and pro.

Hello William D, We are situated in the town of Trinité, but you have the direction of Tartane ( a little township of Trinité), about 40 mn from the Aimée Césaire Airport. There is a beach in a within walking distance: 300m from the hotel. You can book a private transfer: one way 90,00€ for 1 to 3 persons. Our 10 m on 3,20 m swimming pool is good for children but our nice hotel is suitable for couples. Waiting for welcome you...
