We stayed for a weekend at the Rathan House and it was absolutely lovely. The big garden was perfect to entertain our dog who was travelling with us. The room was big and bright, but the best thing was the breakfast that was prepared by the host himself and was so fresh and yummy that I actually ate more than...

Based on the information of other visitors, I booked a 4 days stay in the Rathan House as a base to discover Edinburgh (taking bus line #3, bus stop close to the guesthouse, even in the nigh, no problem, with line N3, WIFI within the bus). The Scottish breakfast was amazing, in particular if you like fish ! And the...

My partner and I enjoyed a lovely stay at Rathan House with our baby daughter and our dog. We were all made to feel very welcome. The facilities and breakfast were great. I'll be back if I'm staying in the area again!

We enjoyed our stopover. The Landlord was very helpful and attentive. The Highland breakfast is the stuff of legend. The experience should be embraced and enjoyed, a welcome change from the stereotypical breakfast offerings from most hotel chains.

Thank you for your kind comments. As must be obvious we take a slight risk with a non buffet bespoke house party "collegiate" high fruit and fish and egg emphasis. It is never going to be as quick as a buffet. So long as a guest enters into the 1920's house party spirit, it can be fun and entertaining. It...

My wife and I returned to Rathan House for three nights - we had very good memories of our first visit and we needed somewhere with parking. It was every bit as good as we remembered. The breakfasts are superb and there is a very good atmosphere among the guests - no mobiles at the table and everyone chats. People...

It must be the fairy pipers who parade for your arrival? (Those who do not hear them - clearly are in the non believers camp - and with your pedigree I can not believe you are one of those) . Your repartee lit up the breakfast table at an auld hebridean hoose party. It is wonderful for us when we...

Our first trip to Scotland and wlll definitely be coming back. Ewan and Irene run a great guesthouse, rooms always clean and tidy, the breakfast was a new one to me and Ray, but we tried the them and thoroughly enoyed them. It was wonderful to sit at a large breakfast table and meet and get to know the other...

It is not difficult to please anyone with a happy disposition like yours, especially when the weather was not brilliant. It is really nice to hear when a guests are pleased with what we do as we know for some it is a bit different. However we set out to be an unhotel like guesthouse with special emphasis on great...

We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean, and kept clean during our visit. The house is kept in good repair with everything working as it should. The bus stop is a few steps away with buses every 10-12 minutes. The breakfast each day was exceptional. The dogs know their place and were no bother. However,...

But but but you only ate your way half way through the menu ! Thanks for the "mounties badge " ! Pity you couldn't fully solve my Canadian culture question. It is great seeing happy people enjoying themselves . Thanks for coming. The fairy pipers anticipate your return and will be on parade. Ewan Irene and the doggies

Room I booked given to someone else. Had to sleep on uncomfortable sofa bed. Very rude owner who told me to find somewhere else if I was not happy. 1. Despite saying it was a lovely room you expressed unhappiness to my wife that you were to have a sofabed. I have slept on it and found it comfy. My wife said she couldnt cope with you . It happens once a year . I had just returned from a dog walk and was unbriefed about your situation. 2....

We stayed overnight but unfortunately had to leave before sampling breakfast. Comfortable spacious ground floor room. Beautiful grounds. Welcoming host who was able to give us local restaurant recommendations. Would rate at 3.5 good.
