The Premier Inn Edinburgh A7 (Dalkeith) Hotel garners praise for its location and parking, yet some travelers find the WiFi unreliable and room amenities unremarkable. While the rooms are often seen as clean and comfortable, there is a noticeable call for refurbishment and concerns over cleanliness. Guests report mixed feelings about the value, pointing out overpriced services and the need for better food quality. The service is a tale of two experiences, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with slow dining services. Despite some appreciation for the atmosphere, the decor and upkeep do not escape criticism.

Had an issue with the room and WiFi last night, couldn’t have asked anymore of the Duty Manager Alina who was trying to do as much as she could to help.
Wi fi sorted tonight and moved me rooms for tonight. Thank you so much. After a stressful night last night, I can sleep well tonight.

Have to agree with lots of others - this Premier Inn (although of the older style) is spotless and staff very helpful.
The TableTable inn adjoined is also spotless and following Covid guidelines brilliantly, we felt safe. We visited twice and the food, although fairly standard menu, was well cooked and piping hot. Servers Lorraine and Carol very friendly and attentive.

Stayed here a couple of times a year ever since it opened as convenient for visiting family in the area. Always been great value and very well kept and clean. Only niggle is that the free Wi-fi could be quicker but they do sell a premium service if you’re on expenses. Adjacent Table Table pub restaurant is ideal if you can’t be bothered driving out but there are half a dozen reasonable restaurants nearby and the reception will always organise a taxi for you - £5 to £7 typically

If you want to go into Edinburgh town centre then the nearby Eskbank park and ride station only about a mile away will have you at Edinburgh Waverley in 10 minutes

We arrived for a few night stay to attend a funeral and were allocated room 9 and 4. My adult children had room 4 and myself and partner room 9. Firstly the lady on reception on arrival and next afternoon was lovely and very helpful. Our heating in room 9 was woeful and the room temperature on reached bearable on the day of our departure as we kept a spare key card in the slot in the room so it did not turn off.
I woke up several times on the first night because of the cold and only a thin quilt on the bed. I asked a lady on reception if I could have extra bedding for the next night and she stated she did not think housekeeping had any extra but she would ask. On returning in the afternoon no extra bedding was provided so my partner got emergency blankets from the car boot so I could at least have a restful sleep. The rooms were clean but tired and could do with refreshing of paintwork. Room 9 had a lovely view of the golf range. Room 4 only a car park view but not really an issue for us.
The breakfast at the restaurant was good but avoid eating there in the evening, both my daughter and myself had the scampi which was undercooked and suffered the next day, my partner’s steak was poor quality and my son’s roast beef tough as old boots. The food is definitely overpriced even on a meal deal.. The food is poor quality but the staff good. We eat at the nearby Justin Lees pub the second evening and it was much better and much more reasonably priced.
I would not choose to return which is a shame as stayed a few years ago and thought it was good. Customer comfort is not a priority at this Premier Inn not the staffs fault I suspect more management and infrastructure.6

This hotel had friendly staff and an adequately sized room for a stop over on a long journey. The room was clean and comfortable, if fairly basic in it's provision. But this was fine for our purposes. However I would like to see a bin in the bathroom in addition to the one in the main room - would be useful for ladies and babies particularly and not having one just seems like a cost saving exercise that is a bit too much.

The Premier Inn would not necessarily have been our first choice but this was during the Edinburgh Festival and accommodation anywhere close to central Edinburgh was going to be difficult to find and expensive. However the hotel and the room were better than we expected and we had a comfortable stay for 2 nights. The hotel is in a quiet area overlooking a playing field so there was no noise. The building is 2 storey with no lift so this could be a problem for guests with disabilities like myself if there are no ground floor rooms. We requested one and they said they didn't have one but when we arrived one was fortunately available. The restaurant called Table Table where breakfast is served is across the parking area so if it's raining a coat and umbrella is necessary.

Slept really well in a very comfortable bed. The only let downs were a bad mouldy smell coming from the bathroom and the lack of toilet paper. There is no maid service during the stay so guests have to request extras at reception. Its not great at 8am if your toilet paper has run out and no one is actually manning the reception! Also if you have long hair bring your own hairdryer. The one supplied is extremely slow.

Booked the Premier Inn well in advance from 27 - 29 December. We booked two double rooms and, because we were travelling with my daughter and her 3 year old, we asked for interconnecting rooms so that we could help her out. When we arrived, she was given a room up the corridor and we were advised that they can't promise interconnecting rooms. We were in a room with a connecting door, however, someone else was in the room next door. Why offer this service if they don't accommodate requests which are made well in advance. I can see not being given this on the day, however, I put in the request well in advance. My daughter also had to be moved from her original room because it smelled musty and damp. Not one of our best stays in Edinburgh and we won't return to this hotel, not if we can help it.

We stayed here as we like that with a Premier Inn, you get what you get. They’re (almost) always clean, and the beds are comfy.

This hotel is in such a fabulous location - you’re not in the centre but you’re less than 10 minutes from the park and ride, where you can get the bus into Edinburgh - £5 per person for a day ticket!
Less than 10 minutes in the other direction and you’re at the biggest Asda I’ve ever seen and Fort Kinnaird - good for shopping and eating!

There’s also some really lovely little villages around with some lovely looking pubs and a few shops here and there for essentials.

The pub attached to the hotel is good, the food is the usual standard and breakfast is lovely.

The absolute biggest selling point of this Premier Inn is the staff. I have never come across a team of staff like them. They were so welcoming, and accommodated us early as we had got the times mixed up and arrived early. Every day they asked what we were up to (we were on a 10 day trip across Scotland), and when we returned in the evening, they remembered exactly what we’d said and asked us how it had been. They were always up for a laugh and full of handy tips and tricks and recommendations! By the end of the trip they felt more like friends!! This Premier Inn definitely has more of a personal touch than others, and it will be the only one we will stay in next time we’re up that way!!

Beautiful spacious family room, with single beds for the kids instead of a pull out sofa beds as most places do.
Very clean, quiet, and neat.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was really good, they offer cooked breakfast cooked fresh for you, and a continental buffet.
A previous review mentioned the golf course, but when we were there, there was huge netting on the golf course fence to block any golf balls coming through.

The only thing that can be a problem for some is that there are no lifts, only stairs, as it’s only 2 floors.

My stay was booked by my Company but I'm sure it was an extra. I think there is also the option of something like a saver ticket for evening meals as well but don't quote me on that.

Hello public transport in Edinburgh is generally very good. Trains into and out of Edinburgh are also very good. I recommend going over the Forth bridge in a train for stunning views. get a return ticket to North Queensferry (over the bridge) Get off and come back over the bridge to South Queensferry and visit this little historic town. Please ask me any other questions.
