Totally disgusting !! Booked a £200 per night “feature room” for 2 adults and a 2 year old little girl ! Upon arrival at 5pm we were Refused food or any type, snacks, room service / restaurant as in the staffs words “we are just to busy to accommodate you” Checked into room to be greeted by a the most awful stale smell, mould, damp and peeling wallpaper certainly not a feature room unless the feature is mould of course! We had of course paid extra and requested a cot bed to be set up for the 2 year old … of course that wasn’t there but after seeing the filth of the place we were glad we brought her travel cot for emergencies as the hotel was so vile I wouldn’t of wanted her on any of there mattress’ Radiators did not work so we were freezing, called reception … no answer so walked to reception and greeted by the same member of staff from check in who told us “oh yeh I can’t answer the phone because I’m being a waitress tonight also as I’m the only member of staff here” she also turns out to be the Maintenance staff too so came to our room an hour later … fiddled with a boiler cupboard and … fixed nothing ! Spent the night freezing!! Let’s now mention the fact you attempt to sleep with the constant noise of the plumbing running, every toilet flush / tap in the hotel blasts through the walls and keeps you awake all night !! Maybe that’s the feature they allude to in “feature room” ?? Needless to say we didn’t stay for breakfast checked straight out and will be seeking out a full refund for this disgrace !

We only live 3 miles away and it’s 23 years since we last visited the restaurant and that was for a company Christmas party and what I remember it was OK. This time around we went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. To be honest there wasn’t a great choice on the menu, but that’s partly because I am quite fussy, but there were a lot curries which I cannot eat because of an allergy, so was left with 2 choices and I plumped for the pork roast. To be perfectly honest as soon as it was served, I was put off, they say you eat with your eyes, well I wish I hadn’t seen it. It was just so brown and dull, with no colour at all, it wasn’t a true pork roast with slices of pork, it was 2 pork steaks that were over cooked, so were hard to digest, the roasties were also rock hard and I couldn’t cut them with the knife I had and as for the Yorkshire pudding, the same as the roasties, rock hard. I think the meal had been cooked a week ago and then heated up. It was topped up with gravy that was so thick it was congealing. I left half of it, only ate the other half because I had not eaten all day and was starving. My husband ordered the rump steak, which he said was cooked the way he liked it, medium/rare, but the outside on both sides was burnt, so we can only assume the griddle had not been cleaned from the previous order and the burnt remnants were transferred to the steak, he also left half because it was leaving a bad taste in his mouth. I’m not sure if the chef has any qualifications or what experience he has, but he needs to be re-trained or replaced as we shall not be returning. It was supposed to be a lovely evening to celebrate, but was ruined because of the quality of the food.

Stayed at The Old Lodge for a few days as a solo getaway. I have visited a handful of times and, as always, the service was lovely. My room was large, very well decorated and had a beautiful view of the grounds. The food is always divine and the chef is accommodating to my dietary requests. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

I stayed in room 8 for two nights, it was a lovely hotel with friendly staff. The hotel promises to be surrounded by nature and it did not disappoint. The food was also delicious, the Indian thali was especially good! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

This hotel welcomes many guests, such as a couples romantic night, family celebration and stay over, perfect for business meetings, and even for a get together with friends. I recently stayed with my partner, we were welcomed by extremely friendly, smart and helpful staff who were always available if you required assistance. The hotel is a beautiful historic building with great character and a great location. There are many areas for relaxing, meetings and to eat. The food was fantastic with great service and always clean. The outside area is just so beautiful and very scenic all year round, especially in the spring and summer months. I couldn’t recommend enough.

The staff were friendly, the location is perfect and the building, interesting, however the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was filthy. (see photos). The breakfast was so inedible we had go elsewhere and pay for it despite breakfast being included. Wouldn't recommend

Really lovely old quirky hotel. Stayed here multiple times over the past year while my horse was in and out of the local equine hospital and each time we got an upgrade. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Sadly we eventually lost the horse so won’t be visiting Malton again but wanted to write a review for all the times we enjoyed our stays
