Not a very nice place to be. Felt uncomfortable, staff abusive and place is extremely dirty inside. Only called in for a drink but would never wish to return to the place. Malton has much nicer, welcoming places.

Booked into this place for a night over, having walked in from Wetwang and walking onwards to Kirbymoorside the following day. Parking included and the staff were excellent in helping out in directions and finding the car park. Twin room, whilst not 5 star, it covered the basics and the shower was excellent. A welcome stop, that served good drinks later after venturing out for something to eat.

My friend and I were staying in Malton for a wedding and needed somewhere budget friendly to stay. The New Globe came up as the best option for us location and price wise with the ceremony and reception venues just a few minutes walk. We arrived about 1900hrs on the Friday evening after travelling a long way. We picked up our keys from the bar and headed upstairs to the room. We tried to put the lights on but the lamp didn't work and neither did the main light! We went back downstairs to the bar to talk to someone about the issue and they very begrudgingly moved us to another room where the lamp was broken again! But at least the main light worked. The way we looked at it, we knew we weren't going to spend much time in the room and it was just somewhere to put our heads for the night but there are a few things that just weren't up to standard: Dust on top of stuff like sockets and the kettle - This is basic! Cracked sinks Shared toilet that was like something out of a horror film, complete with crackling light bulb, filthy toilet brush and carpeted floor. You just pray that the other clients are good at aiming... Sticky, unclean feeling carpet Cigarette burns in the bedding! And a rude wake up from the cleaner on the morning of your departure. Do I think that the pub will read this and care? In a nutshell, no. I get the vibe that they don't care full stop which is why there are so many bad reviews. It seems to be the same kind of complaints over and over yet nothing has been rectified. So in short, amazing location but massively let down by an establishment that makes you feel like you staying with them is a burden. Avoid where possible!

I booked two of the rooms for me and friends. One room smelt of cigarette smoke, room 2. The lighting in room 3 didn't work. Beds were comfy and towels were clean but overall the rooms needed a deep clean. The single toilet had a door that didn't shut or lock which was very annoying. The shower was okay but again could do with a deep clean to get rid of some black mould. The breakfast the next morning was okay. Overall the accommodation was cheap so we didn't expect anything amazing, but a good clean and a lockable toilet door needs to be done. Kicking out time from the local pubs on the Saturday night was also very loud.

Found by accident, but once through the wrought iron gate almost concealed withing the high sculpture hedging right on the main road, we loved the place. It was quiet and clean and the Gentleman who was there was very kind and attentive to our dogs needs , fresh water etc and even helped my wife , who has quite a severe disability with walking and getting over steps etc. The outdoor seating was clean and good parasols for protection from the very hot weather that was present all week 13-20th July. We went 2 or three times and each time , the smile from staff was there and the beer was the same . Great John Smiths . Will go again in September when we return to the area.

It was the most disappointed stay in my experience. Firstly when we arrived nobody even new that room was booked so I had to prove it. I mentioned to the lady who showed our room that we paid for breakfast too and that we leaving early at 8 am. She said it's not problem and she will make sandwiches for us and leave them near our door at 7.30 am. But we didn't get anything next morning, nor could we find anybody in the building. Another disappointment was the room itself and facilities. Everything had a smoke smell in spite it should be smoke-free and I found ashes in the teapot too. Also there was a lot of dirt on the floor and I even wanted to clean it myself, but the staff didn't know where brush is so couldn't give me one. The TV in the room was smaller than my pc monitor and remote didn't work. Teas and coffees tray in the room had out-of date cookies and only one spoon. There were no even one bath towel in the room. The sink was cracked and cold water tap leaking. Heater was put really hot and not adjustable so we had to open window (old wooden frame with single shaking glass). It resulted in more smoke coming in from the people smoking outside and we couldn't sleep half night because of loud noise from busy road too. There was no wi-fi in the room despite of description on the website. Overall impression is that nobody knew or cared about our stay, we didn't get service and products I paid and was expecting.

After looking for a cheap hotel near to where tribfest was being held in Sledmere ( tents & muddy fields being a no no) I came across The New Globe Inn a pub in Malton a 20 min drive away offering a double room with shared bathroom & breakfast for £48. Price & distance from where I wanted to be I booked. Firstly my satnav took me to the wrong end of the street but eventually I found The New Globe Inn, it took a couple of drives around to find the back entrance to where the car park is located. Check in was in the bar area & a nice guy took us upstairs to where 3 rooms, a shower room & a toilet were located. Apparently we were the only guests that night so no need to share the bathroom facilities. The room itself.... although it was clean & much better than spending the night in a muddy field, it really does need some work. The negatives... the bed... it really needs a new one! End of! The bed base had a piece of wood on top & the mattress was quite lumpy. The head board not even attached to the bed. The sink in the room..it worked but it's propped up by two pieces of wood!? Holes in the wall & a loose plug board behind the bed. Both the toilet door & shower room need new locks. I was quite glad we were the only people there as it was impossible to lock the shower room shut! It is a pub so do expect some noise, we didn't get back to the room until midnight. We figured it was a Friday night after all & it was fine as no noise after 1am. The positives... clean bedding, clean towels, clean room,TV, tea & coffee facilities, hot shower, clean toilet, free wifi & free parking. Breakfast!! Breakfast is why I have rated this a three & not a two. Really nice hot cooked breakfast with toast, orange juice & tea or coffee. Other places would have charged around £7.50pp for this breakfast easily so taking that off the £48 total (£15 for 2) you're probably paying £33 for the room. Overall it did what it needed to do for myself & my partner for the one night. Would I stay here again? If some improvements were made then definitely. If not maybe but not for more than one night.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our rooms, first issue stairway was dark and stairs uneven, it is an old pub so not greatly rare in my experience. The rooms were basic to say the least, twin beds which had seen better days but were comfortable, the bedding again was tired but clean and fresh. Hadn't realised the toilet and bathroom was shared but that's our fault for not looking properly - would have been nice if the locks on these rooms had worked! It was very noisy as the bar itself had a karaoke on the go until early morning and the bar across the road was playing dance music - not a huge problem but would have been difficult with small children in tow! Although there was a TV in the room it was the smallest TV I have ever seen and couldn't really be viewed properly whilst led in bed and only 1 channel would work. Breakfast was apparently not a choice from a menu, rather a full English set in front of you as you arrived in the breakfast room, the food was really good and freshly cooked. Although there was free wifi in the bar, this was not an option on the room. I wouldn't return here but I didn't feel the need to leave and stay somewhere else either! It was cheap, included breakfast in the price and really close to various Yorkshire attractions.

I walked in the room and walked straight out again it was truly shocking, you can't call this a hotel. It was booked for me so didn't see reviews. Believe them all, it's so bad. I got another hotel in Kirbymoorside 20 mins away.

Customer service (at the bar) none existent. Toilets are absolutely awful - appear not to have been cleaned for months. Noise until well into the morning unless you are in the pub. Please just go somewhere else..
