Stayed for 2 nights , great value, room fine, stairs a bit of a climb. All staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble, Dave the owner great guy, plenty of chat and a real character. Bar area very homely with roaring fire and hand pulled beers. Food can be eaten either in the bar or front restaurant. Excellent food,... More

Enjoyable stay here, nice atmosphere through out the hotel and nice bar area. Some people could argue that it needs this , that and the other doing to it but it is what it is- a pleasant enough hotel which does the job for a night or two.True, it could do with sprucing up here and there but it was a... Pleasant enough hotel. Staff very nice and friendly and tried to be helpful. Everything ok but not particularly good. We were disappointed with our evening meal on our first night as we had been recommended this hotel and food by friends. The first course was delicious (crab and scallop chowder) but main meal of halibut and seasonal veg was awful.... More

The Us 8 Walking Group, 4 mature couples, visited for 3 nights mid October having been recommended the hotel and the walking area by a friend. They were not wrong! Having stayed in Dales/ Lakes hotels on numerous occasions, the Teesdale Hotel is up there with the very best of them. With a past history of being a "coaching" Inn,... More

Stayed in Teesdale for the first time being regular visitors to the Lakes & Dales. Hotel dated with rather tatty decor. Bedroom ok and bed very comfy. Worryingly the kettle was plugged into a multi-socket extension lead stuffed behind the radiator with bare wires (found this prior to departure but forgot to mention when checking out). Bathroom adequate but gloomy... More

About 30 of us descended on them today at around 12 noon , little bit of panic by the staff then the food started coming out , some of us waited 15 minutes , some half an hour but it was worth it , food was exemplary

Centrally located hotel in Middleton. I had a single room which was comfortable and quirky. Breakfast was included and for the price was good value. The cooked breakfast was taken very literally. I asked for poached eggs and bacon and got poached egg and bacon. Chef had gone overboard with the vinegar for the egg. Service was a little strange... More

Turned up at this lovely hotel ten minutes after they'd had a cancellation. We bagged the room with a Manager discount (thanks Dave!) and settled in for some exemplary food and very tasty local ales. This hotel has character and charm that you just don't get with modern places with 5 star customer service to boot. Breakfast was top notch... More

Just as we pictured a local pub to be. The staff was very friendly and the food was so good we ate at the pub 4 of the 5 nights we spent in Middleton. Kudos to Dave, Sally, Helen and Katherine(C?) for making us feel so welcome and a special thanks to Sally for taking time to always engage us... More
