We found this pub a year ago when I googled dog friendly pubs in this area. We returned this year because the lunch we had last year was so good. It's off the beaten track but good if walking around the High Force waterfall. We found it was sign posted from Low Force. Friendly locals make you ( and your...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Strathmore Arms. The pub is in an isolated spot, a real oasis, and the evenings there were great fun. Local people and our hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was luxurious, very comfortable, spacious and warm and the cooking was great. The breakfast was delicious and very generous. Our Westie was made...

Way off the beaten track but popular with people "in the know". Well signposted for walkers in an area that is rather special for its scenery, waterfalls and moorland. The food is great, with large portions. In sunny weather the outside tables are a must and to admire the owner's gardening skills. We have been before, but were disappointed they...

A very friendly and charming couple run this lovely hostelry deep in an isolated nook within Teesdale. Great food and beers with several interesting walks on theNorth Pennine Way close by. The ancient burial site of Kirkcarrion is also in striking distance.

Day 10 of Pennine Way. Access to this property gained from the Pennine Way - by crossing fields on a recognised footpath using an OS map (path also identified by pub posters at river Tees crossing). This is a real local's pub, seemingly miles from anywhere. Well sized room over bar, at front of building. Bathroom cosy, but functional and...

Whilst visiting relations in local area we were taken to The Strathmore Arms for a meal which was absolutely excellent . The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the inn had an excellent friendly atmosphere. For any walkers in the area this has to be a must to have a well earned break. I believe they also offer bed...

Having followed the signs from Middleton in Teesdale pointing to a Pub up a dead end road we wern't sure what we would find. What we did find was a beautiful old pub with an immaculately looked after beer garden and somewhere that looked SO INVITING for a much needed lunchtime meal. We decided on Beef and Ale homemade pie...

Went here yesterday based on reviews from tripAdvisor and was sadly disappointed. Called early to book a table for sunday lunch to be told no reservations were being taken as there was a beer festival on - I have no problem with that and was told last orders for food would be taken at 2.45pm so we just had to...

It's taken me 5 years to try this pub, I was not disappointed. This would be most people's view of a near perfect local, Loved the setting, greeting and beer. The pub is clearing loved by its owners and patrons. There was even a local singing duo. Perfection

Recommended by a bar lady in the kings head Appleby, for some good pub grub. Found this in beautiful settings a quaint little homely pub with a very informative landlady. The locals were very friendly and found it very homely. We both ordered pies made with a suet pastry with fresh veg and real chips not nasty oven ones. This...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A traditional country pub with 4 en-suite rooms. The Strathmore is situated on The Pennine Way. Open from 12pm until the last person leaves. We are closed on Tuesday's. A real old fashioned country pub with great tasty predominately English fare, plenty of well kept local ales and fine wines, also plenty scrumpy ciders. The Strathmore Arms is close to both High & Low Force wateterfalls and is a fantastic area for walking/sightseeing. A warm welcome is assured. We are also pet friendly. ... more   less
