The staff were very helpful and friendly. Food in abundance and the quality was excellent. The village of South Brent has a number of interesting shops and plenty to look at. If you fancy a walk plenty to choose from. Easy access on and off the A38

First impressions from the arrival is of a very shabby hotel, nothing like the pictures from the website. This put us on alert straight away, our room was spacious but very tired, bedding looked drab and as it was May, we thought it would be a great getaway but we were very disappointed to find that there was no heating...

A very nice pub, comfortable beds and bright airy room. We didn't eat here but the breakfasts looked good and substantial. South Brent is a very friendly village, an ideal stop off if travelling to Cornwall or other parts of the West Country.

Had a wonderful two night break at the end of May. Staff most welcoming. Room with four-poster bed was great. Breakfast was very good and plenty to choose from in the evening meal. No complaints whatsoever. Would definitely recommend.

Travelling with my mum, we booked a twin room via buy a gift voucher. Very first impressions on seeing outside of this pub were of apprehension as it, looked a bit run down. But don't let that put you off, as once inside we were welcomed and shown to a large, bright, clean room. Every little detail had been thought...

We stayed on a Sunday night prior to visiting Plymouth: the Sunday roast was good value (2 for £15) and breakfast was one of the best we've had. Our room was clean and comfortable: many thanks, Steve, for making us so welcome and food luck for the future.

Fabulous room with a view & very comfortable bed. Basic pub food but very well done. Owners very welcoming. Had this stay as a gift voucher - good way to stay at places we wouldn't otherwise pick. Had another not worth the effort but this one came up trumps.

Trying hard, attentive but quite honestly amateurish. Menu sounds hearty and excellent value covering all the modern "pub" dishes but every plate had a fault. Pizza base burnt, all home cut fries severely overcooked, awful partially browned supermarket bread with the pate. Basically no attention to detail. Pity because they seemed very nice people.

Comment a bit overdue but felt I must do it! Enjoyed our three nights & had a wonderful weekend. Steve was an excellent chef & cooked us some wonderful meals & breakfasts (& was very accommodating letting us have a later breakfast!). Typical village pub with very friendly locals & well situated for touring the surrounding areas. We will definitely...
