A solid accommodation option in Juba. Everything is relative however I felt safe and comfortable during my 9 night stay for work. Had a bungalow which was nice and roomy with basic cooking facilities. Generally speaking, the rooms are cleaned daily and to a decent standard. The air con worked well which is essential given how hot it is. Good...

For $10USD you get all you can eat buffet including sausages, chicken, goat, etc. It was great. The service for drinks is slow, and the toilet is not hooked onto the ground, but pretty great place considering you've found yourself in Juba. The restaurant overlooks people in the river washing their motorbikes, collecting water, washing clothes, swimming, bathing, fishing, and...

Management response:

This is one of the best place to stay in Juba, which is very volatile. Side of the Nile river and big old mango trees gives nice shade under Juba's hot daytime. Has nice small bungalows, although price is little high. Container type also there. But restaurant is not up to date. Otherwise very good place.very good security.

Having stayed in many dubious hotels/camps throughout Central/East Africa I can safely say that Afex has totally won me over, from the friendliness and thoroughness of the staff, to the no nonsense top levels of security clearly evident yet still maintaining the ambience of a stunning hotel campus literally on the banks of the White Nile. The food was tremendous...

Ok a bit pricey and out of the way... But hey its one of the best hotels along the Nile Banks, It is very secure and one wont beat the overall atmospehere of the place. Unlike hotels in a building.. This place is very unique and definitely provides you with an African setting with hotel class (not to be compared...

DMyst, many thanks for your review and your comments will be taken on board. We are in the process of upgrading the camp with a view to make it the place to stay in Juba. The views along the Nile are breathtaking and we are seriously investing in the infrastructure and the services, especially the restaurant which is the hub...

Please note that this review is for the restaurant only, not the hotel. This is my favorite place in Juba, for the peaceful atmosphere along the Nile above all else. The food, service, and drinks are all average, but I can't speak to the lodging.

I was happy to be back here for 4 days this month. I stayed back in March, so I knew what to expect. I stayed in one of the bungalows close to the river, which are quite comfortable. The air conditioner did struggle to get the temperature down to a comfortable level, but it did in the end. Aside from...

We went to AFEX restaurant for a Sunday lunch. The location is exceptional, we sat under a mango tree, along the banks of the river Nile, drinking a cold beer watching boats going up and down the river. We had grilled chicken and a salad which was clean and delicious. My favourite spot in Juba. I highly recommend it.

Once you can find it the restaurant is in a lovely location alongside the Nile. You will need to sign in which is good for security but worryingly leaving vehicle outside the main gate. You then have to walk past the accommodation which appears to be containers to get to the restaurant and riverside. There is plenty of local activity...
