My husband and I stayed in a sunset villa which was lovely. We were disappointed with the beach outside as the path going down to the sea was very stony which was difficult to walk over and there was a lot of large stones in the sea. One end of the island where the Dhoni bar and restaurant were was really nice but the other end going towards the beach bar had been abandoned, there were empty restaurants, these restaurants were advertised as open on the website, lots of rubble and rubbish scattered about also a lot of the villas looked abandoned as well, even if that end of the island was not in use it could have been kept tidy and cleaned up. On the plus side the staff were excellent they were all friendly and could not help us enough. It was our wedding anniversary while we…
I took my wife away for our 40th Ruby wedding anniversary. This was a surprise for her and we had such a brilliant experience, from arrival to leaving all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food of our all inclusive was exceptional considering that the resort was far from full. My wife can't eat wheat so the head chef Lakshma Welideniya made bread, two desserts every day and when on duty showed my wife what was ok for her to eat and if he was not available his staff would takeover, what brilliant service. We also had an exceptional romantic meal on our Anniversary set out in a gazebo on the beach. If you want peace, tranquility beautiful surroundings, great service, somewhere that you can explore and lovely food this is the place for you. Thanks to all the staff…
We’ve just returned from a two and half week stay in Jacuzzi Villa on all inc basis. This was our second stay and we loved the place even more than before (in 2019). The most comfortable way to reach the resort is flying Sri Lanka Airways via Colombo. They operate a daily flight to Gan Island. The Resort is located on one of the largest islands in Maldives. Unlike other hotels we’ve had a chance to visit, Canareef offers great opportunity to integrate with nature. Parts of the island are wild. There are even several lakes surrounded by bush and trees. The grounds are massive. Walking or biking to all key sites kept us fit. We easily did 7-10km each day. The gym also has great equipment. Canareef offers an unpparelled sense of privacy. The Jacuzzi Villa is of a good size…
We have just returned happy and relaxed from a10 day holiday at Canareef. If you want an immaculate and pristine 5* resort then maybe this is not for you. If you want a good value lovely resort with super friendly staff and good food then it's well worth a visit. From our arrival to our departure the staff were fantastic and more than helpful with any request. The resort was really quiet
Myself and my husband stayed here end of May. Due to covid the island has only been open a few months. We took 3 flights and a speedboat to the island. We arrived late evening and were shown to our jacuzzi room which was amazing. We had sandwiches in the room on arrival. There was a maximum of 8 guests on the island the whole time we was there. We had cycles outside our room but just called a buggy to take us where we wanted to go, it's a long island. We had a couple of massages which were amazing. Due to lack of tourists we had a la carte meals every day. The chef and his team did a fantastic job. We went on the dolphin tour also amazing. My husband did a snorkeling tour which he said was great. Staff - too many people I could mention but im rubbish with names, Hassan our…
We recently returned from a week at the Canareef Resort in the Maldives. To say it was paradise is definitely understating the fact. The trip started by being picked up at Gan airport and being whisked away on a speedboat to the island paradise which is Canareef. White sand, clear sparkling sea water and coral reefs are the first things that greet you as you arrive, followed by staff service that was warm and ultra efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and we felt instantly relaxed and welcome. The accommodation was tasteful and very comfortable with ample room and a beautiful view. The food was exquisite, prepared by a professional and passionate chief. A great selection of drinks and cocktails from the bar and plenty to do including pool and table tennis amongst other…
Friendly and accommodating staff, delicious food and the island is large enough to either cycle or ride a bike. We spent our last morning on a snorkelling boat trip. The crew were very helpful. We saw stingrays, black tip sharks, green turtles as well as an abundance of fish thanks to our wonderful snorkelling instructor. We will definitely come again.
What can I say. Canareef offers welcome value for all of those who want to experience the Maldives but are presented with over-priced resorts. Went early June which going on past weather records was a good time for clear skies. Have to say this was the case with showers only on one afternoon and true rain only once overnight. Place was not busy. Probably 40 to 80 guests compared to 400 in high season. Ramadan falling for much of our stay also likely an issue. No issues getting to Gan. Recommend yoy fly into Sri Lanka and get direct flight run by Sri Lankan. Much cheaper than the rip off choice from Male plus you will get 30kg each as opposed to 20kg from Male - great for dive gear - as well as the chance to see Colombo!
Having booked a late holiday to the Maldives We arrived at the resort to be welcomed by a lovely lady who set about explaining all we needed to know We arrived at our villa which was a very nice clean and well kept jacuzzi villa The whole experience was a delight with the only problem being we were unable to visit other islands because of the corona scare all staff we fantastic and the spa treatments were second to none !! To cap it off our villa was situated next to royalty We had lady p of Sevenoaks and her butler Graham who both made the holiday into a most memorable trip. We will be returning in the near future
Amazing stay at Canareef I’ve so much to include will try to keep it as simple as I can. From arriving at Male where we were met by a rep from Canareef to the end of the trip I can honestly say all staff have been amazing. Friendly polite very helpful always smiling would go out of their way to help you for example my luggage was lost they went above and beyond to get this back. This was not their problem the luggage was in Heathrow but they dealt with it and sorted it so thank you. Again we went the the local village and came across Abdul from house keeping he showed us around the village again going above and beyond this is not part of his job nor was he even at work he was on his break thank you very much Abdul such a nice gent. Kevin the manager has been so nice and kind to…
