Let me brief you on the above along with pictures... Nestled within the city limits, this charming retreat gives you a taste of Kumbakonam like never before! It is five star treatment which was meted out to us - we got a whole lot of amenities right from bathroom slippers to yummy cookies in our rooms with a price card and a scrumptous buffet which gave us an excellent gastronomical experience. Travelling with kids always fills us with dread, with a constant fear of how you are gonna manage your toddler in a new place. But the super friendly staff especially the Restaurent manager and Arun the lobby manager here set our minds at rest, catering to his every need with a ready smile. My two year enjoyed the typical Grandma's lunches - steamed rice, dal, ghee to suit his taste, a wonderful breakfast and was even ensured a 24 hr supply of milk. As a matter of fact, it was my toddler who enjoyed his stay more than us! If you thought Kumbakonam was just another pilgrim site dotted with temples, you are mistaken. The auto service offered by the hotel is an exciting way to explore the town, we got to sip cool drinks straight from the Kalimark factory, and drink heavenly sherbets from shops near the temple.I have to mention Inba, the auto wallah who gave us a memorable tour around the city. He became one of us quite soon and patiently guided us through shops inside the temple and also showed us the place to get the best coffee powder in the town. One special mention I would like to make is the front desk manager Arun, housekeeping manager Rajiv Gandhi and the restaurant manager who are mostly responsible for the efficient running of the place and made our stay a fabulous experience. We were completely overwhelmed by everything which prompted us to cancel our trip to Pondicherry and extend our stay at Sara for yet another day. I would also like to thank Salahudeen, the managing director who pays attention to each and every single customer and remains a great pillar on which Sara Regency stands. I would rate Sara five stars and recommend Sara Regency to everybody for a great time in Kumbakonam.

The closest one can get to a decent business / star hotel in Kumbakonam. I was travelling with my wife, two kids and in-laws for a couple of days (4th - 6th April, 2013) and given the unpleasantly hot weather I did not want to compromise on the confort during our stay. The hotel is on the outskirts of the town, but ameneties in the hotel, including free wifi makes up for this inconvenience.
We had a bad experience with another hotel which we had booked online so based on the Tripadvisor ratings I called up this hotel and booked two suites for two days. The reservation and check in was handled efficiently and the front desk staff and bell boys were pretty helpful.
We took one Executive and one Deluxe suite for two days. The rooms were pretty spacious (which helps while travelling with two small kids), bath rooms were neat with all basic toiletreis provided. The rooms had a funny smell when we checked in, it was taken care of when we complained.....very funny smell...not sure what it was though.
The house keeping is very good, staff friendly and accomodating - especially when kids can mess up the place inspite of best possible supervision on our part. They were prompt in servicing the room, any time of the day, when ever we needed some help.
The hotel has Tata Sky for Cable TV and Free Wifi so for anyone wanting to chill in the room the basic requirements are taken care of.
Food is pretty ok. We did not have the breakfast or meals in this hotel, but what ever snacks we ordered were fine. The choices available were also pretty good but prices are slightly on the higher side if you take the overall settings of the hotel into considertation (E.g one bottle of mineral water costed us Rs 50),. Again room service is prompt and always rendered with a smile.
Overall a very good property in a small town. Hope the management is able to maintain the standards over the years given that they charge rates comparable to the three star hotels in cities. This is a relatively new property so the next few months and years would answer this question!!

I have used Tripadvisor many a times before booking a hotel & did the same this time. We were a family of 4 adults; my husband & me & our 2 grown up children; on a pilgrimage to Kumbakonam & wanted a good place to stay. I liked the review of this hotel & the photos too. Living in Mumbai & having travelled abroad many times; we had certain expectations from our hotels. We sure were worried that the hotels in Kumbakonam may not be to our expectations...but Sara Regency put our doubts to rest. The rooms were very well appointed & the food was excellent. The room rate included buffet breakfast which was very sumptuous. The hotel is in the outskirts of the city but being from Mumbai we did not feel the difference, instead we felt it was better than the noisy city center. The MD Mr.Salauddin has good taste & has put in a great deal of effort to bring international quality to this hotel. I hope Sara Regency continues to maintain this standard in the future & I would certainly recommend this hotel to all friends & relatives who frequent Kumbakonam.

I had been a regular to this hotel whenever I visit Swamimalai temple. I had also recommended this hotel to many of my friends based on the quality and service provided. However my recent experience (in Mar 2020) was bad and I could clearly see that the hotel management has lost focus on maintaining the quality/ service. the rooms are not properly maintained, WIFI doesnt work inside the room (you need to come out of the room to access WIFI), food is average (once it was really good). The hotel staff are helpless as it looks like they arent experienced enough to handle client requests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone anymore unless the hotel management wakes up to revive their quality

Sara Regency The hotel receptionist at Sara Regency is untrust able, the guy who taking my money when i'm checking out (1st September 2017 @ 7.00am), took out 3 notes of RS100 (RS300) from my money and than complain to me that i'm paying less. Before i'm make the payment to the receptionist i was count my money 3 times and my wife count 2 times. I saw the guy flip 3 notes and threw it under his table. when i request for the CCTV view. They refused to play the video. i'm very very upset with the Sara Regency. I will never ever recommend Sara Regency to any one.

A valued,worthy 3 star hotel with excellent facilities inside and a multi cuisine 3 star restaurant with various vareity of dishes which can be preferred with a mind of fulfilled joy...The one and only worthy hotel in temple town kumbakonam...so I personally reccommend all to try atleast once...

Such a bad experience staying at Sara Regency, Irresponsible staffs and dirty hotel rooms and toilets. Not well maintained. wasted our time & money over there. I would suggest not to stay there. They spoiled our trip. We didn't even take our break fast.

First the good things about the hotel: A) Nice easy to find location though a bit out of city. B)Big beautiful building with ample parking space. C)Reasonably fast check in. D)Big well furnished room. E)A big TV with a Tata sky cable connection with most of the required channels. F)Very good Wifi connection in the room. G)Tasty we'll spread breakfast. Now the MINUSES: A)Very tiny SMELLY bathroom,difficult to move while taking bath. B)Very poor lighting in the room,half the room (the TV area) was without any light. C) A very very noisy Blue Star air conditioner, entire night got a feeling as if I am on an aircraft. D)Faded torn towels and not very clean linen. E)Soft uncomfortable bed. F)Very poor service.Bell boy arrived in the room after 20 minutes and 3/4 calls to the front desk. G)Hardly any service during breakfast in the restaurant.When the cups were there , there was no coffee and when there was the coffee , there were no cups.On the live Dosa counter even the cook was missing. H)In the room Tea coffee maker was provided but there was no Tea ,milk or sugar packs . The property is not bad but it is managed very very poorly . Will not stay here in future and not recommend to friends for sure.Overall 5/10

To my knowledge by a specific request you can ask for early check-in.They may agree.
Reg restaurant timings I think it is from 7.00 AM to !0.30PM. You can ask the hotel to help you for taxi hiring for Navagraha temples vosit.But deal with the driver directly and get the rates specifically and the itineraray.
