My partner and I enjoyed a great vacation to the Great Barrier Lodge. The location of the lodge meant, without a car, we were in position to go on numerous hikes, kayaking, hot springs, and swimming. We also loved the food served at their restaurant, and were so impressed that for such reasonable prices we could eat so well! The...

Drinks on the boat as well as lunch were catered for by the lodge and were awesome. Service and food back at the lodge was great. Having spent a lot of time at Great Barrier Island & in Whangaparapara Harbour on our boat, it was a nice change to experience the views & wildlife from onshore. So lucky we chose Great Barrier Lodge to stay on GBI. Erica and Archie the loveliest people right from the day I booked. We had a special birthday while on the island and they helped us celebrate in style. Rugby World Cup game against France was shown live with lovely early morning coffees as a bonus. Highly recommended!!

For our first trip to Great Barrier Island we got a fantastic deal through the Lodge that included airfare and car rental. The lodge itself is in an idyllic location, on beautiful Whangaparapara Harbour. It's a bit of a trek off the main road and most of it has not been paved yet, so not a great place if you...
