The plants and the architecture did it for me (all those beams and balconies and nooks and crannies) - plus the attentive brother and sister running this hotel with such care and attention. The whole ambience is a delight. I must confess the hot water eluded me, but breakfast for an early departure was produced bang on time and I...

Quaint hotel in historic building, in the small village of Leymebamba. The owners are real characters, and will tell you endless funny stories and give you many tips about the area if you engage them in conversation. They can also help in buying advance tickets for combis etc. Ask for one of the newer rooms.

Called into this fabulous "family home", and it was a great experience. Old colonial architecture, 2 levels. Beautiful gardens, obviously lovingly tended, with the odd hummingbird visiting. Grandchildren joyously playing. Real genuine hospitality which made me fell most welcome and part of the family for the entire stay. I booked an evening meal on book in at 5 pm for...

Behind the front door is a maze of rooms and wooden beams and plants and local textiles and craft and cultural items of interest. I loved looking around the building. Breakfast included a jam made by the owner and was modest but tastey. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The only negative was the poor insulation between rooms....

In a village where everything is medium, albeit with stunning landscape and forest, this place is an island of style and comfort! The interior ranges from colonial to some little corners where various collections from the owners are displayed. The central little garden, like a courtyard, actually has hummingbirds coming in; also where you will be eating if you're dining...

I was disappointed with this accommodation. Rooms are basic but okay. The chance to watch the hummingbirds is nice. The biggest disappointment for me was that it was filled with a group of American doctors who had pretty much taken over every common space and were extremely disrespectful to anyone else there including making noise until almost 1 am and...

None of the other, more affordable hotels and hostels in Leymebamba have parking for a big touring motorcycle of 1m in width. The doors just aren't wide enough to drive my bike into their lobbies without removing panniers. If your bike is as big as mine, or if you're looking for a wonderfully comfortable and peaceful hotel experience, stay at...

All the staff were helpful in sorting out minor and major problems we had while staying there. Some remodelling going on but there was little disturbance from this. Pleasant atmosphere. Close to the main square. Ample hot water. Cool at night. If arriving by vehicle be aware that this is a narrow street with no space for turning around in...

Nelly and Julio do their utmost to provide a comfortable and safe place to stay, and can provide advice on tourist activities. I was impressed with the friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is excellent, with fresh juice, eggs, bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea. Dinner is available with prior notice. Julio is chief cook and meals are very tasty. Laundry service is...
