The Palace is an odd contrast in the otherwise high rise village around the bay. The service in the hotel is very personal and the breakfast isvery good with cooked to order breakfast and a buffet including fres fruit and home made pastries. In the afternoon you can enjoy the balcony terrace overlooking the bay. We were unfortunate to be...

My wife and I have just returned from a week in this lovely hotel. The hotel has been converted from a former sea captain's house ( built 1907) and has been done sympathetically to retain many of the original features but combined with modern requirements such as air conditioning/ heating, wifi etc. SMP is a quiet, family resort situated on...

We booked in last minute early evening and expecting nothing, What a lovely surprise we had in store. The young man on the reception desk was just amazing, however, he did seem to be running the Hotel on his own at this time! He showed us to our rooms before we booked in to see if they were to our...

After searching for a room in Sao Martinho we stumbled across Palace Capitao. The exterior and interior are unbelievably exquisite. The only thing which supersedes the elegant charm of the hotel and the very amiable staff is the view across the bay. We extended our stay at Sao Martinho and will definitely visit again. The rooms are very traditional but...

We only stayed here for one night after a mix up over an apartment booking left us homeless. We had parked in the secure hotel car park and were guided to the hotel. We originally had a basic room but were upgraded to a superior room when I informed the desk clerk that the air conditioning was not working. The...

First blush is positive. An old well furnished mansion, wooden floors, sitting room, tastefully decorated rooms. The greeting at the desk was cool and disinterested. The hotel is a non-smoking place except for a designated sitting room, however the staff smokes in the kitched off the hall to the main lobby, and their smoke permeates the downstairs. Rooms lack modern...

We stayed there 1 night and loved it. We first had a tea on arrival that was quite good. The staff recommend us a restaurant that was excellent. The morning after we had breakfast in bed! It was better than most. I highly recommend.

We were delayed in our arrival and got completely lost trying to find the village. "No problem, we will come and find you". Staff "found" us and led us into town, to the hotel parking and helped us with our luggage. Check in was quick and we soon felt relaxed after our long day of sightseeing. We stayed just 1...
