There are a few places that merit that definition but I know one that is almost hidden away from the eyes of many men, but when I begin the trip to go there I feel like Jack on the beanstalk, who must make a great effort to arrive at that paradise, which is called Hotel Iris, where I'm welcomed like a long last member of that family . The rediscovery of great service, great food, great freedom and the entire vastness of the Parco Nazionale dell'Abruzzo at the disposition of my family and I, is a pleasure to be saved with joy. If you take into account that you are really in the heart of the national park of Abruzzo and in a small resort town named Pescasseroli, this hotel is really good for its category (3 stars).
Staff is polite and gentle (they are very comunicative and friendly) and in such "raw" mountains area is very big plus. We already experienced other more expensive hotels and we didn't find such good service as here indeed.
Structure is a traditional wood/concrete house, quite lovely placed in countryside periferic area of Pescasseroli but not far from small center reachable by 10 min walk (strongly suggested to own a car to enjoy all surroundings). One negative thing is there are plenty of dogs in the nearby villas, some of them even a bit too much free to go out the fences, fortunately they seem friendly with tourists who walk next to.
Structure has simple fair to good woody bedrooms. Comfortable beds, nice flat screen tv, just toilet very small. We got a room with balcony...
