At 1200 meters above the sea-level, it has a very quiet position on a beautiful hill plunged in the greenery, in the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. Hotel Pinguino, surrounded with beautiful mountains and wide secular beech, fir and pine woods is the ideal place for summer holidays and winter sports but for holidays in spring and autumn too. Its comfortable rooms well equipped and supplied with a direct line telephone, guarantee peace and relax for a completely homely stay. Our pride is our typically local cuisine: we owners personally attended to it: choice menu with pasta, home-made sweets and breakfast with a rich buffet. Not far from the Hotel (about 1,5 kilometers) there is Pascasseroli, a picturesque and cosy resort, which supplies its guests with all the facilities required. At the same distance there are the ski fields, with ski-slopes for any level of experience. Perhaps everyone knows that Pescasseroli is placed at 1167 meters above the sea-level and that it is inside the National Park of Abruzzo; but does everyone know that one of the widest network of tracks in Europe branches from Pescasseroli? All the possible tracks without any need for car; from any point of the town, from your hotel, in any season, you can immerge into nature, with hikes, excursions on horseback, with ski for long distance and for alpinism, with snowshoes or with all kind of bike.

I stayed three nights in Hotel Il Pinguino. The location is quiet but rather far from the centre of Pescassèroli (it looks close on google maps, but as it's quite uphill, it's not possible to reach this property by the main road). The best way to get there is by car. The first night I stayed in a spacious room with a mountain view. The room was great and I was very pleased staying there. The second night, a family with a baby was staying in the room next to mine. As the baby didn't stop crying I asked for another room around midnight (I was there on a hiking trip so I definitely needed to rest!). I got a small room in the back, which smelled of paint and was very hot. I was quite disappointed having to stay in this room for another two nights, but the prospect of being kept awake by the baby wasn't any better. Both rooms I stayed in had a very small bathroom - the shower cabin was too narrow. The bathroom in the freshly painted room was a little better than the one in the spacious room. Breakfast was OK, though pastries weren't very fresh (on Sunday the bread was quite hard, I assumed that they don't have fresh bread every day) and there wasn't any fresh fruit available. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free wifi only available in the public area, very poor wifi signal in the rooms. I'd recommend staying here for people who have a car, but keep in mind that the walls are quite thin and that noisy neighbours could be a problem.
