We arrived for a one night stay on Saturday 5th Nov to a warm welcome at Reception. We were shown to our room that was lovely and warm on this cold evening. There was a fruit bowl stocked with a variety of fruit for us to enjoy as well as a small decanter of sherry and two glasses. Bottled water... More

Took some pals here for lunch today....lovely hotel, great decor...but, oh boy, the food was just awful....totally tasteless, utterly disappointing ...wouldn't take much to make this an exceptional place...you need to massively up your game, or go under..

Lovely old place in nice location. Cosy room to enjoy a drink. Unfortunately served by a young lady who was remote, unfriendly, and generally dismissive of our presence to the point of rudeness. It costs nothing to be helpful, happy and pleasant so why do paying guests have to tolerate bad service ??

This really is a beautiful place to stay if you are looking for traditional English hospitality. Situated at the heart of a pretty Derbyshire village. I stayed with my mother in a twin room overlooking the garden and river. It was so comfortable and beautiful. The food was lovely and I had lots of gluten free choices. The staff are... More

A friendly welcome set the tone for this fabulous stay. The upstairs room was very comfortable with a super large bed. All the little extras were a delight - we looked forward to returning each evening. Continental breakfast was fresh and served with a smile. Fellow guests were happy to chat so there was a good atmosphere. We loved the... More

We had been walking for hours and came across this place and wanted a cup of tea and a Bakewell Tart- being in Bakewell and all that. I went inside and instantly thought it was way too posh for walkers but when we said we'd sit outside they seemed relieved. No Bakewell Tart. Only scones but when needs must.... it... More

Wonderful lunch. We ordered the soup and cheese board and felt like we were rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. The food was wonderful, The service impeccable. The décor was top notch. This is not to be missed.

8 of us, (4 couples), stayed 4 nights here a week or so ago. Service was efficient, polite and always attentive. The hotel, set on the edge of a pretty, picture-perfect Peak village (famed for its annual Well-Dressing: Trinity Sunday onwards- June 11 in 2017), is a beautiful building in the local honeyed stone, surrounded by well kept gardens and... Travelled to Ashford without booking and found this gem of a hotel. Amazing room, brilliant staff and a great breakfast menu. Set in the tranquil surroundings of the river it would be easy to miss this hotel, so glad we didn't. Felt very welcomed and the attention to detail in the rooms was brilliant, love the port and fruit. The... More
