The hotel is very traditional hong kong style in 1970s which is inspired by wong kar wai, a film maker. The roof top is very chill out for drinking or see sun set. And staff was very helpful and good service.

Great location, nice heritage property. The staff need to buckle down and clean the place, perhaps get off their phones. Great rooftop hangout. Didn't try the food - didn't feel like taking a chance on the slack staff. They did offer water re-fill so that was a bonus. Wafer thin walls. That's about it.

Check-in was a hassle because management had apparently forgotten to tell the rather surly receptionist that we had made a booking through booking.com. Despite us having a confirmation code from the hotel we had to book in there and then and pay rack rate. This hotel is essentially a converted shophouse on four levels including the rooftop which affords a nice view of the Mekong. The rooms are freshly renovated. To be fair, the renovation is very tastefully done, albeit that your shower and toilet are essentially located in small broom cupboards in each room. The downstairs café is well appointed and serves some seriously good coffee. The real drawback with this hotel and the reason I would never stay there again is the noise. Only a medically induced coma would facilitate sleep in this hotel. The walls seem like they are made of paper. You will hear all the coughs, sneezes, snores, belches and worse emanating from their rooms. Every door squeeks, every floorboard creeks. Not only this, the noise from inside the building, the street itself is quite noisy. There are bars on either side of the hotel a short distance away. They scream out noise until midnight and then their clientele make as much noise as they possibly can upon leaving. Think drunken lager louts shouting the street and revving motorbikes. And then of course there is the issue with the locked doors. The hotel locks the front doors at 10pm. There is a digital keypad for guests to let themselves in after this time. That is of course if the staff have bothered to tell them at check-in what the code is. There is apparently a person that sleeps on the premises that is supposed to let the latecomers in. But unfortunately he is a very heavy sleeper. On the two nights we stayed in the hotel we awoken numerous times by people pounding on the front door until 3am. To be fair, the renovation is very tastefully done, albeit that your shower and toilet are essentially located in small broom cupboards in each room. The downstairs café is well appointed and serves some seriously good coffee. Go for the coffee. It want to actually get some sleep take some seriously strong sleeping pills and industrial strength ear plugs or stay somewhere else.

I mean the receptionists were helpful but the first impression was off to us they didn't know how to check the booking. The bed felt comfortable but there was debris under the cover including dust and gecko's poo. Note that this is a noisy hotel, the walls are thin you can hear everything from outside..like seriously noisy, not to mention when the next door pulled a girl in, it was a nightmare. No sign of warning to be quiet or anything. The staffs themselves were noisy throughout the day...playing cards and loud music. Not going to return. Wifi wasn't working properly.

I was pleased to stumble into the Savan Cafe. A lovely air conditioned venue with great wifi. The cafe offers a wide variety of food including some interesting Vietnamese dishes. The owner could speak both English and Thai and I enjoyed the opportunity to sample some healthy Vietnamese noodles with plenty of fresh herbs.

My hat and two pants were disappeared. Never happened to me in any other place never. I think they make the stuff disappear gentely and only one piece at a time , so you would notice it only after a while. I suspect the staff because the cleaning lady took my towel twice, once at the afternoon and second time at the middle of the evening, without informing me and without giving me another towel - they just left me 2 days without a towel. Moreover, the cleaning lady of the restaurant tried to rip me off by offering me a "laundry service" for 5,000 Kip per one piece and a "taxi" service. Do not leave your stuff abandoned or forget it somewhere - it would not be returned to you.

We made an online reservation for this hotel but they did not know how to find the booking, even though we showed them the reservation online. The rooms we booked were not available, the staff didn't speak english, the food was not good.
