Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Decent stay for a few nights. There's a front and back building, the front building is connected to the lobby and the back building is separate. We stayed in the back building on the upper floor at first, the room was quite modern and looked newly renovated, clean and bright.
We later moved to the lower floor and that room was old and dark, lacking functional furniture and what was present was a bit shabby. There's no toiletry in the room except a soap dispenser in the shower, and the towels were very old and scratchy.
Rooms aren't soundproof. If you're staying over the weekend you should expect noise from partygoers coming home late at night. The doors and windows also have lots of cracks and gaps so it's not insect-proof either.
Front desk employees were nice and it was easy to get in touch with them through Line.

Fundee was a wonderful place to stay on our way to the South. It is bright, modern, clean & cheery! Rooms have small fridge, fun furniture, and balcony. 170,000 kip per night. Includes breakfast. Also, check out Chez Boune for pizza, and the Savannakhet night market for snacks.

The guesthouse was difficult to find especially in the early morning as vicious dogs roam the area refusing to let you pass. Currently, Google Maps has an exact location for the guesthouse and is accessed through a driveway on the road parallel to and south of Nalao Rd. The guesthouse sign on this road inexplicably says “Good Dreams Guesthouse” but the photos on the sign match the photos on Booking.com.
The location is a 20min walk away from the centre and we didn’t find any tourist restaurants nearby. It is however 10min walk to the bus station.
The room itself was just as the pictures show. It was spacious, clean and had a big bathroom with hot shower. It was fitted to a high standard. There was a great air-con unit which was useful considering the hot weather. Wi-fi in the room was very good – when I managed to get the password from the staff.
The staff have very poor English and any form of communication was difficult.

A neat and clean hotel with modern comfortable rooms. The staff were efficient and obliging, though they have very little English. It is a bit out from the center of the city but that makes it quiet. We enjoyed our few days here and felt it was very good value.

Slept here in a very clean room, beautiful accommodation! It was a great price, quality ratio. It was close enough to the city, though very quiet. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Ideal for a short stop!

The hotel price is really good considering that most hotels in Savannakhet offers mediocre service with exorbitant prices. This hotel has a really big bed, hot water, AC, and a TV. Staff just can't speak English but they are still helpful. It is quite near the bus station though you have to walk about 20-30 minutes to reach downtown (river side area).
