My husband and I booked a weekend there for vacations with a coupon "Ofertón". The place is not pretty, staff is friendly but that's the only good. Old bed sheets (itchy ones), bathroom is not so clean and there was not even soap or the expected little shampoo you always have on hotels or "paradores". Your silohuette can be seen from the pool due to extremely thing curtains. If you're allergic, don't go there. We had to buy bed sheets on the nearest Walmart, the worst thing ever was the "continental breakfast", coffee, 1 type pf juice and bread....when I tasted the bread I noticed it was bad, it had fongus!!! Definitely not the best stay. We booked for 2 nights and on the second day we were gone.

After visiting www.jbhiddenvillage.com/ and having read some good reviews in trip advisor I decided to buy an "Ofertón" to stay with my husband and our four kids in this parador. On the internet page you see a beatiful view of this property, and when I checked the amenities like restaurants, game room and ping pong table I thought it should be good place to stay and enjoy. It was the most shocking experience I've had until now. There was nothing but the swiming pool (a warm and relaxing one), a quiet environment, very good to sleep and very friendly staff.
I'm very sorry for all the tourists that I saw, because maybe they were in shock like me and that is sad. Puerto Rico is a beautiful place and the visitors, especially our friends from other countries, deserve the best.
I hope they can go further, and get this parador in good shape again because the staff are very friendly.

Have you ever been to the "cabins" of Boquerón? You know, those houses by the beach with no furniture, old bathrooms and rock-hard mattresses? If you love that kind of vacations, ask yourself why. Even when you have to basically move even the kitchen sink to have a great time in those cabins, you still have fun... You have family, a beach and a great location!

Basically this is what you get in Hidden Village: a room with dated furniture, virtually no hot water for showering at night... The biggest shock we got was not seeing all the great amenities we were promised (we booked through Ofertones, a coupon service a la Living Social). Any pictures online were old, from the hotel in its heyday.

But you know what? I kind of liked staying here. It's Boquerón with much softer, comfy beds, a bakery within walking distance, a nice, warm pool at night, and LOCATION!!!! And VERY FRIENDLY STAFF. Frankly I'd stay one more night. It's hard to go back to the city with all the loud reggaeton-playing ATV's.

Overall the experience was relaxing but tense. It was great to have some peace and quiet... I just wish we knew what we were getting into beforehand. I wish the best to the staff and hope they can find a way to get Hidden Village back in shape.

I wanted to write this because they don't get the credit they deserve. This is a small, quiet , very clean, family friendly hotel. We went for a wedding (on Black Friday!!) the week of Thanksgiving. I had checked the hotel out previousy on Trip Advisior but the reviews were old and I was a little leary since I was traveing with small kids so I hadn't booked. But that Friday, the day of the wedding, my husband and now brother n law passed it on the way to Shangri-La to set up for the reception, so they stopped in to check it out. We were staying at my mother n laws house so it would be nice to get out. He called me from the hotel and said It looked decent.. I asked him what about cleaniness??? So the actual owner of the property, the dad, showed him the room. It had 2 double beds and 1 twin bed, small TV with 4-7 basic cable channels, little dining set and bathroom with towels and soap for 109.95 a nite!! We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. We figured after leaving the wedding everybody is tired and drinking, this would be a great idea. And it was.... After the wedding at 1:00am we didin't have to drive back to Mayaguez, it was a 5 minute drive from Shangri-la, and we crashed. Next morning we went down to have brreakfast. This was even better... I had a ham and cheese omlett with toast french fries, coffee and juice for $ 6.00!!! you can't beat that. My daughter ordered pancakes and she got 4 LARGE pancakes, bacon, french fries, coffee and juice for $6:00!!!! Everything comes with french fries! My 7 year old was not complaining!! It doesn't get any better than that esp when you are traveling with 8ppl!!! They close for breakfast at 11:00 and reopen for dinner at 5 or 6?? Not sure since we hung out at the pool all day with kids.. literally! We brought to the pool (the water was a bit cold for me but the kids were there till night time!) the left over beers and ordered pizza and wings with left over wedding cake!! There are 2 places to eat right around the corner from the hotel. The restaurant also has a bar and the owner lives on property too. The property is really quite and if you don't know your way you just might pass it. :) The only thing is that the rooms don't have frig and microwave and that can be a pain when you are traveling with kids.. but no biggie... the guy at the bar heated up the pizza and the canned spagetti and meatballs I had for the kids... and he wouldn't take money I tipped him... :) The rooms have the ac units inside and worked well. Check out is at 12:00 and they don't rush you out either. I know this is a long review but I wanted to give as much information as I could so others can enjoy, esp since I like to get as much information as I can when booking. Overall I would definately stay here again and again......

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not the place; this is an family hotel. You get what you pay for such as clean towels, bed and bathroom however the rooms are too small and full of mosquitos. No hot water in the nite, no telephone, no cellphone signal, limited TV channels. You have the feeling that you're in a retrieve. Everything is very quiet. The staff is outstanding and very friendly. Noticed that they are pet friendly too and that was nice to see. Not all hotels in this area accept pets.

The first thing you see is a note with a telephone number to call when you arrive. No reception, no restaurant as they advertise. Not even a vending machine in the whole place. Finally we got to the room to leave our luggage and went to the beach. The beach is more than 15 min by car so is not near. You have to go out to even get a bottle of water. We stayed for 2 nights and not even a security gard was on the place at night. We were the only people in the "hotel" and we were afraid at night. Not recommended at all

This has been a horrible experience. We felt robbed. Appart from the only guy in service (housekeeping, kitchen, cashier, everything!), who was very nice, the rest was a nightmare. The place looked like it was finised in the 70's and was never retouched. Not even the landscaping. The a/c worked but no TV. The pool was so scary we did not dare to enter. And the corridors were full of mold. This place should be turned into a museum.

Paid for a 3 days 2 night stay, rooms are really small, no TV, air conditioning are super old and did not work, we only went to sleep. Breakfast was really cheap. The surroundings were not pleasant to stay so we just left early in the morning, did some tours and came back late at night to try to sleep with the heat and useless a/c. Not coming back nor recommending it.
