Detailed Reviews
The chateau is a historic building with simple, elegant rooms in a serene hamlet on a hilltop with stunning views. We had a most comfortable bed with beautiful linen. A delicious breakfast was served next to the pool in the spacious and quiet courtyard, and a well-equipped kitchen was always at our disposal. Particular mention should be made of our wonderful and attentive hosts, who succeeded in making our stay extremely pleasant. Great guys!

Eric and Steven take really care of you as guests! Starting with a served(!) breakfast after a long and nice sleep in their very well decorated bedrooms. Nice garden and warm ( for me at least) pool with a cosy dining table in a sunny corner !
15 min away from the small city Lodève!
Lots of things to look at in the surroundings and only 1 hr drive to the sea!
Thanks !!

Firstly, I have to say, if I could give a higher rating I would. Our stay here was such a treat I cannot recommend the Chateau nor the hosts enough. From the perfect continental breakfasts (very quickly altered to suit my vegetarianism) to the day trip recommendations and general helpfulness of the owners, this really is a special place.
LOCATION
Olmet and the surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful, tranquil and a joy to visit. Sitting high up in a valley the views from the property are stunning, it really is a complete haven. I would thoroughly recommend (as did the incredible hosts, more on that later) a visit to Lake Salagou (rent a canoe, or boat and explore with a picnic) and also to the canoeing in stunning St Guilhem le Désert.
PROPERTY & ROOM
Every bit as good as expected and better. From the moment you arrive you realise the pictures, no matter how good, don't do this place justice. Every little detail is immaculate and luxurious, but in a very relaxed way so that you never feel uncomfortable or out of place; Eric & Stephen have really managed the balance perfectly between high end but relaxed. We stayed in Le Jardin which had a beautiful view over the valley to wake up to every morning. The door directly out to the (absolutely perfect) little courtyard and wonderful pool was a real treat. Be sure to take a dip in the pool later in the day, the sun is less severe in summer and it is a lovely experience.
HOSTS
I have saved the best for last, as I genuinely think that the extra special part of our trip was meeting Eric and Stephen (plus Stuart & Florence) and all the help and effort they put into making sure we enjoyed our visit as much as we did. We felt incredibly welcome from the start and this continued throughout our stay. We were genuinely sad to say goodbye, but will definitely be returning.
If you are thinking of visiting Chateau Olmet, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. The only negative is leaving.

I am already planning my next visit to Chateau Olmet with my husband. The place oozes character and relaxing solitude and yet is only a 10 minute drive from the nearby village of Lodeves. It is in a stunning setting, the hamlet sitting on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful surrounding countryside. If you can drag yourself away from the gorgeous grounds and pool there is so much to see and do nearby. Apart from the abundance of picturesque villages and towns (St. Guillhaume is renowned as one of the most beautiful villages in this part of France and if you have the time and a head for heights, the Michelin scenic route from Lodeve to St. Guillhaume is an absolute must). Montpellier is only 40 minutes away, as well as Perpignan, there is a beautiful lake only 5 minutes drive down the hill, not to mention kayaking, walking, fabulous restaurants. Eric and Steve were fantastic hosts and made us so welcome. Chateau Olmet is an absolute gem.

We have just returned from an eight night stay at Chateau D'Olmet - this is a perfect adult only luxury retreat at the top of a hill with fantastic views. Our room was Lunas which was lovely. Eric and Stephen were amazing and couldn't be more helpful. This was a memorable experience which will never be forgotten and one we would like to repeat. Eric organised a wine tasting day out which was excellent, he also arranged many nearby restaurants of excellent quality, visits to beautiful villages and Montpellier. Breakfasts at Chateau D'Olmet are very good and we enjoyed a local chef who cooked for us on two evenings. To summarise this holiday - a beautiful location, luxurious accommodation with two of the nicest people you could meet.

We have just spent 5 days at Chateau D'Olmet. It is an exquisitely restored large house in a mountain-top village above the small town of Lodeve. It has 2 suites and three bedrooms and caters for adults only. The hosts, Eric and Stephen, have invested in creating a perfect hideaway for those seeking peace and relaxation in South West France. We stayed in Le Jardin Suite, which opens directly into the garden and was a perfect place for us.
The guest house has luxury hotel facilities, combined with the ambience of a country house visit with friends. Breakfast is prepared by Eric each morning and is either eaten in the courtyard garden or in the converted barn alongside the house. If you don't feel like going out for dinner, three evenings a week you have the option to be served a cold assiette dinner in the barn or, on Tuesdays and Fridays, have the luxury of a three course meal prepared by Pierre, a local chef. If you prefer, however, you can use the kitchen facilities in the barn to prepare your own meal.
Eric and Stephen are attentive, welcoming and very friendly; they can advise you as to the places to visit nearby, as well as point you to the best restaurants. We very rapidly felt that we had known them for years!
The village is rather remote and a a car is an absolute necessity, but the nearby town of Lodeve, at the bottom of the hill, has all the shops that you need. You are within 45 minutes drive of the coast, or the city of Montpellier, while for those who prefer outdoor activities, you are within 15-30 minutes of beautiful mountainous countryside and the nearby Lake Salagou, with a range of water sports. If you want to drive further, you are within a couple of hours of the Camargue, Cevennes and Tarn Gorges national parks.
Highly recommended.

What a fantastic place to spend time relaxing by the crystal clear waters of the pool in the warm Summer sunshine. Eric & Stephen are fantastic hosts and have made us feel very welcome in their home. The rooms are beautiful, the garden, terrace and pool area are a fantastic sun trap and the guest areas are very nicely appointed. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. It's so easy to travel to Olmet being less than 10 minutes drive from the motorway. It is definitely well worth a visit if you want somewhere to relax and unwind from the stresses of modern day life. We wish you well as the Chateau becomes the place to stay in the region. We will definitely visit again. Thank you Eric and Stephen for making our stay so pleasurable.

We came here on the basis of a recommendation and we are over the moon that we did so. Everything was impeccable - from the welcome to the room to the pool to the breakfasts. The owners (Eric and Stephen) could not have been friendlier and rather than feel like paying guests we felt that we were their close friends staying in their house. On two evenings, rather than trying to locate a taxi, Stephen even drove us to and from local restaurants (and refused to take payments) which they had hand-picked as the best in the region. For one evening, we paid for the full dining experience where a local chef comes in and cooks a full meal - this was one of the best meals we’ve had in France and very cheap for what we received. Overall one of nicest places I’ve ever stayed, and two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. We’ll be back!

We received very good communication from Eric prior to our arrival. Located just outside Lodeve. Beautifully restored. Big bedroom - Parker - and ensuite. All bedrooms were very nice. Very good breakfast area - we are in the terrace. Dinner by local chef Was very good - eaten al fresco on your own or with other guests.
We stayed by the pool for a couple of days - very relaxing.
Local restaurants are good - la palombe was exceptional.
As for the hosts Eric is very efficient and Stephen talks a lot - they make you very welcome. They were perfect. Helpful friendly and great people. Perfect hosts.
We will return and i miss our time there. It felt like leaving a friends house.
Check it out.
