Spoke English. Clean room. Older type hotel, (elevator was a give-away) Few vacationers staying. Probably busy during the summer, as it boasts large lawn/gardens in the rear of the hotel, plus tennis courts & swimming pool. Good breakfast in private separate area from lobby, looking over lawn. We did not eat at the restaurant, so unable to comment.

We came out from Paris to stay at this hotel for one night so we could go out to the Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte. The strangest part about this journey was the lack of taxi cabs in town. We had a very difficult time getting one from the station to the hotel. The hotel itself is in a lovely...

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night. Easy to find with secure private parking. Pull up in front of the hotel and nip in to reception and a valet will take your keys and park your car. The hotel has a spa and does various treatments but I would book these ahead of your stay as seemed popular. There...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights after our Air BnB fell through. The hotel was immaculately clean, and the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Breakfast, as with many European hotels was extra, 12Euros. But it was well catered, and the nicest thing was the fresh squeezed orange juice. The hotel had a lovely setting...

I arrived having been told it was superb .... It is well worn with a stale food aroma ... The restaurant pool bar and sauna were all closed ( pool indefinitely). I was told to eat at the Buffalo grill opposite. Security ... Non existent !! The gates are kept open all night, front doors are unlocked and unmanned, no...

Fortunately I was only staying here two nights. it was like stepping back to the sixties. A bit run down and no Bar. The staff were helpful but the food was truly awful. Cold bacon, vold scranbled egg in a cold breakfast room. The rooms were clean, tidy but a bit run down. It was expensive and most uninviting

Dear Sir Our hotel has been built in the seventies and as our name is “Le Grand Monarque”, we do not pretend, as you may have figured it out, to be a design hotel. Interior design is a personal feeling. Works are done regularly to enhance our but saddly we can not please everyone’s taste. Also we attached great importance...

I was booked in here by my client, so had no choice. The hotel is about a mile away from the centre of Melun, set in spacious wooded grounds with parking for about 100 cars, although never more than about 8 were taken (early September). I don't think this hotel knows what it wants to be. There's an unheated swimming...

This hotel, located in the city of Melun, has very nice view and gardens. It is surrounded by trees, the back yard feels like you are in the middle of a forest! There is a decent sized swimming pool ( it's open and not heated so only serves the purpose in the summer). Restaurant is ok. The breakfast is somewhat...

Back to this hotel for two nights . Well located a few minutes'drive from Vaux le Vicomte or Fontainebleaux or Barbizon in a wide green park it remains a decent hotel with comfortable facilities : a swimming pool and spa and tennis court , clean and comfortable accommodation in a quiet surrounding .However breakfast remains a problem , lack of...

I picked this hotel from a mix of trip advisor reviews, location and price. Very well appointed rooms at the right price, many facilities that we did not use (gym, billiards, swimming pool) also. It is situated within easy walking distance of the Melun rail station with very regular (10 mins) trains to Paris (€12). On the negative side the...

“I would suggest you get a room at the back side of the hotel that faces the trees and/or the pool. To be frank the ones facing the main rood are not bad at all too. So either way you are not loosing or gaining much. The noise level is always at a min. in this hotel anyway.”
