Not for the faint of heart :). There are two well-spaced cabins (good for privacy) and you feel like it's just you and the jungle. Don't expect electricity but do expect plenty of different animals, birds & critters... even a tarantula. Great experience to get...More
We spent 5 days at Ek'Tun during June. It is set in about 200 acres of tropical jungle vegetation bordering the Macal River. It may be a little too rustic and isolated for some travelers but the food is out of sight and morning coffee...More
My five nights at Ek Tun were an adventure in paradise. Although this is not the vacation place for everyone, those who delight in rustic natural settings and unique jungle experiences will not want to miss it. The grounds are expansive with tropical birds and...More

Although our trip was mostly wonderful in terms of food and accommodations, and we enjoyed the owner's hospitality, we have several friends who have attempted to contact her to no avail. This may because of a wifi problem or perhaps she is no longer encouraging others to visit. EkTun is approximately 12 miles from Guatemala border, about 6 miles south of San Ignacio. Xunantunich was within that 12 miles and are spectacular ruins. You will need a rental car to visit other destinations if you stay at Ek' Tun. Close by is Black Rock which is across the river from Ek' Tun.
