Travellers' Choice
In a delightful rural location overlooking Loch Alvie in the Cairngorms National Park, the Rowan Tree is a family-run country hotel and restaurant offering delicious, locally sourced food cooked to perfection – ideal after a day’s adventure! The hotel is a great base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park and the popular destination of Aviemore, which is just a three-mile drive away. The hotel was originally called the Lynwilg Mail, was built in the 18th century and still has original features like open fires, stain glass windows, low beamed and sloping ceilings. There are 10 delightful and unique bedrooms which are all equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay including Egyptian cotton sheets, luxurious goose down duvets and pillows, high quality toiletries, flat screen TV and tea. All rooms are non-smoking. There is ample parking on site, a drying and boot room with secure storage for skis, bikes and other equipment. Food will be a big part of your stay here. Start your day with a traditional Scottish breakfast including the hotel’s famous Rowan Tree porridge served with double cream and Drambuie. Dinner is a relaxed and casual affair with each meal individually prepared using only the freshest, principally Scottish, ingredients.

We had a lovely stay at the Roman Tree in December. The accommodation was very comfortable and really had an “at home” feeling. Nothing was too much trouble during the breakfast service and the food for this and dinner the previous evening was excellent.

We last visited in 2007 so this was a delightful return for us. The whole hotel team are brilliant. Very person-centred and paid attention to each guest’s needs. Our dog was not only welcome but spoilt too! Team very compassionate and generous in spirit. Thank you 🎄🙏

My family and I had an exceptional experience at Rowan Tree Country Hotel. We both stayed and ate there for two nights. The rooms were charming, the beds were comfortable, the owners and other staff were very attentive and did their very best to give us whatever we asked for. The ambience and the food were delicious. My family and I happily recommend Rowan Tree House!

Trip to Aviemore with friends. They were booked into this hotel unfortunatley I could not get a room. We all met there for drinks late afternoon and we looked after just as if we were REALLY welcome, bit of a change recently. Had a meal inthe evening, great menu choice, quality food and real personal service. I was accommofated for breakfast, which again we cooked to order, served with a smile. I left this hotel promising myself to come back and stay. I have expenience of hotels throughout Europe, this is most certainly at the very top end of my list. It is not a Radission or a Marriot but makes up for that in a fantastic personal servie which is so hard to find.

We ate in the restaurant, very friendly and accommodating. Food was amazing - recommend the truffle polenta, brilliant! Very good catering for allergies and good advice on the options available in the menus.
