A group of 4 blokes celebrating a significant birthday took 3 rooms here for 2 nights as base camp for a) a day walking the Sandstone Trail, and b) a quick day trip to Chester. The Alvanley Arms has a definite buzz about it and is popular at all times with locals and regulars - so be sure to book...

We stayed at the Alvanley for 1 night whilst attending a wedding nearby, we were made to feel very welcome, plus given help, advice and access to a landline to arrange our transport. We had an evening meal on the day of arrival and a cooked breakfast on the day of departure - both of which were delicious, service was...

An odd start to my stay at Alvenley - I called to enquire as to last minute availability to be told that nothing was available despite availability showing on hotels.com. I thought I would see what happened if I booked anyway and it worked - half expecting to be turned away I was checked in with no issues by the...

Hi Jeremy, Thank you for taking the time to post a review about our venue all feedback is welcomed greatly. I'd like to apologise for the confusion on availability, we had just upgraded our on-line booking system on Wednesday, of which is has taken a little time to bed in and get used too.On reflection you did actually take our...

We stayed at this lovely pub when attending a wedding nearby. Our room (The Clydesdale) was extremely clean and roomy and had every facility one might require. It did face the main road and might therefore be noisy I the summer, with the window open but was fine in October. We received a very friendly welcome and, as our room...

We stayed here for just one night. The welcome was very warm and our room comfortable. Fresh milk for tea was readily available. The evening meal was delicious and we headed off for an early night. We could hear those in the bar enjoying themselves but that is to be expected in a country inn which has been there for...

We stayed here to attend a friends wedding in the nearby castle. We did visit beforehand and had lunch and knew we wouldn't be disappointed when staying. Julie had even given me a list of local taxi firms so we could book a taxi in advance . We asked for early check in and late check out due to the...

Stayed for over 1 night, to sight see the area. Upon arrival all the staff were very polite & helpful. The room was very nice - as to the age of the building. We ate in the restaurant that evening - Great food, every mouthful was hot to the end, we could not finish as there was so much. Good...

The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy, towels fluffy with ample hot water..such a great setting too and easy to reach. On returning at 23.05 from a private function elsewhere my party of three, all resident in the hotel were refused a drink at the bar and told we could only order for our rooms. People were still drinking in the lounge. We questioned this with the barman and again refused. As a country inn much of the enjoyment is gained...

We discovered this little gem whilst visiting Carfest 2014. The weather had been so dire on the Saturday that we look refuge at this pub to dry off and enjoy some homecooked food. We were so impressed that we immediately enquired if we might be able to make an advance booking for Carfest 2015! And so we found ourselves last...
