This is my 3rd visit to Kefalos, both previous accommodations being hotels and Kos Island Studios surpasses all previous experiences with flying colours. Firstly, we were originally booked to travel here late April which for obvious reasons was cancelled and I was delighted to hear proactively by email from Barbara about the options available regarding our deposit and we confidently postponed to a later travel date which took place early this month with the existing deposit already in place for part payment which is a relief when rearranging flights and accommodation. Barbara picked us up late at night at Kos Airport on arrival and promptly checked us in explaining the facilities both on site and in Kefalos/Kamari Bay.We were also welcomed by Rex their “watch dog” who became a firm friend immediately! Breakfast next morning and for the remainder of our 12 days visit was truly amazing with an ever changing homemade daily special each day eg spinach pie, chick pea fritters, croque madame, all served alongside fruit and yoghurt, cereals and a platter of meats and cheeses with unlimited juices and hot drinks meaning lunch was out of the question! In fact if they offered half board then we’d definitely be interested! Our studio was on the upper level as requested decorated in a bohemian style with some lovely little touches such as a welcome tea/coffee selection with homemade cake, complimentary shower gels and free air conditioning which most other properties charge for! Housekeeping took place every second day with a change of towels and bed linen as well as a thorough room clean. The beach and harbour side are only 5 minutes walk away where we dined out at the multiple restaurants almost daily though we did cook dinner twice in our studio after long day excursions to the neighbouring islands of Nissyros, Kalymnos and Pserimos which are really worth seeing after you’ve seen all that Kos has to offer. Barbara recommended Kefalos Car Rentals on the main road and this proved to be the cheapest at a mere €19 per day including insurance so we could see as much of the island as possible including historic Old Palia, Zia, Asklepion, Kos Town and Therme where the sulphuric hot sea water is a tonic. Sadly excursions to Bodrum, Turkey were not available this visit due to the CV situation there. Kefalos offers a very relaxing holiday with a perfect climate at this time of the year which is why we chose to return here for an autumn escape and with the superb levels of hospitality offered by Barbara and her parents Poppi and Vangelis this makes for the perfect destination when there are so many difficulties elsewhere on the tourist trail around Europe. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Kos Island Studios at our next travel opportunity and sooner rather than later. Yamas! 🇬🇷

Everything is very well appointed and organised. Nice big room with everything you need for a vacation you won’t forget. The garden is the best place to cool down and relax... Perfect breakfast also. Popi, Varvara and Vaggelis are excellent and they’ll do everything to keep you satisfied. Special mention to Rex the dog!

Thank you to Barbara and Poppi for making our second stay as wonderful as the first! I fully concur with all the previous reviews - just wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Will return. Hope that’s ok Barbara - Ken promises not to mislay the keys again! We love Rex too - he’s so friendly! See you next year!

So good that we are eager to write (from the beach 😎) during our stay & before the season’s done. All the previous 5 star reviews are totally accurate .... Barbara & Poppi are wonderfully warm & caring hosts, the accommodation is quiet but perfectly located & spotlessly clean, the beds are very comfortable & then there’s the cooking .... oh my .... the breakfasts are amazing with an extensive range of daily changing hot & cold delights to weaken the resolve of even the most stoic dieter .... you’ve been warned! Thank you for making a good holiday great.

There are so many positive things said already, so I'll try to comment on the things that made us feel so welcome and looked after. Barbara and Popi and everyone else we met were so friendly and welcoming - from the pick up at the airport (which got us checked in, changed and into the nearby resort to eat long before the airport coach had even dropped off) to our last farewell there was plenty to smile about and we really could not have asked for more. We stayed for a week in June in the huge apartment on the lower floor with a double bed in a fully separate bedroom. We could put the free aircon on for an instant cool down or leave the patio doors open for a lovely through draught the rest of the time. There were another 2 single beds in the living area but the 4th bed was removed and the room rearranged so we had plenty of space. The doors and windows were all fully fitted with mosquito nets and the doors all locked securely. Fully darkened windows, a comfy bed, great pillows fresh flowers and no noise from our neighbours provided a perfect nights sleep and the lovely Yanni kept our room spotless every day so it was always clean and fresh to come back to. Breakfast was outstanding, especially as I can't eat certain foods and eating out can be a struggle, but I was not disappointed! Every day Barbara made different gluten free delicious freshly baked cakes, amazing deserts and bread specially for me and made sure there were cheese and meat free options to add to the great selection of meats, greek salads and speciality cooked dishes which changed every day. Our friends staying at a nearby hotel said they had just 2 slices of toast so they had breakfast on the sea front but we had so much choice on a fully laden buffet table it kept us going till tea time! Food was fresh, covered, in the shade with no shortage of anything we never felt rushed and enjoyed chatting over tea with the hosts and guests afterwards. We have looked at loads of other places to visit for our next holiday but they just didn't match up to staying here and as we still have plenty of places to explore on the island we are already planning to go back.
