Our daughter booked this as a late cancellation with INGHAMS.
4 adults 2 kids, 5 & 7 years old, to see Santa.
Firstly, I would like to thank my daughter for including us old fogies, secondly our thanks to the INGHAMS Team, and finally Santa for giving the kids a most wonderful experience.
We went half board for a week half board in a cabin 300m from the hotel. The cabin had everything, including a sauna & log burner. Very comfy and always warm.
The hotel provide us with breakfast & evening meal ( buffet) style with something for everyone, both in the morning & evening.
The Finnish coffee is amazing. Alcohol is generally expensive everywhere, expect to pay £7.50 for a pint of beer and similar for a glass of wine, so best to stock up on the Duty Free. There is a supermarket 35 minute walk away, and a nice ,safe, well lit walk away, for1/2 price beer.
As this is a write up on the hotel, I would say they provide everything for your trip, and for that reason I give this a five star report.

The hotel is located in a quiet end of the village next to some much more charming huts and houses. The room was spacious, quiet, with nice shower. Water pressure was good. The sauna is well taken care off, but open only 16 to 20. We enjoyed the generous breakfast offered.

The hotel has a good location. The supermarket and the ski area are within walking distance. The hotel is situated in a quiet area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, orderly and cozy. The only negative point was the food at the hotel. There was enough variety, but it was not very tasty. Despite this negative point, I would definitely recommend the hotel for a stay in Yllasjarvi.

Good hotel, simple but cosy and clean. Staff is always very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast buffet is good and the dinner buffet is different and good every evening. The excursions organised by Safartica are great. The skiing slopes are only 15 bus minuten away. And nature is calling right outside the hotel
There are two separate saunasfor men and wonen.

I have always dreamed of visiting Lapland and in December 2007 I finally got to do it! We have an 8 year old son and decided that this would probably be our last chance to take him so that he could experience the magic of visiting Father Christmas in his home country. We saved and saved and saved up to do this and we were absolutely NOT disappointed. It was the most magical experience in the world and I would recommend everyone tries it.

We booked our experience through Cosmos as following a lot of research I discovered that they have an excellent reputation for this type of holiday as they have been in the market for quite a long time. The holiday from start to finish, the reps, hotel, activities, organisation was first rate and I can't praise it highly enough.

Cosmos have 3 locations to experience Christmas in Lapland and we chose the one we thought would best suit our needs - Yllasjarvi. The photos in the brochure and the description of the area and the hotel seemed perfect for us - quiet, beautiful and lots of snow!! The other main resort in Finnish Lapland is Levi and we did get a look at that one first hand - I was very glad we chose Yllasjarvi - Levi was a bit like Blackpool with snow, our resort was more like Paradise with snow. Only 2 shops and they were a 40 minute walk away, which none of us braved. It was peaceful and idyllic.

The moment you arrive at Gatwick airport check-in you are treated like royalty. There was a red carpet with 'Welcome' written on it at check-in, along with Elves bearing chocolates (at 5am!!), Rudolph the Reindeer, Hal the Husky and a Jester entertained the kids in the queue to check in. The kids were absolutely mesmerized, it was brilliant! All the kids got santa hats and badges and the fun and games continued at the gate (and more chocolate!) - Rudolph and Hal even saw all the kids onto the plane and wished them a happy holiday.

The Cosmos reps were there to meet us at the airport and we were all kitted out for the Arctic weather. We sang christmas songs and played games on the 40 minute transfer to the hotel and the kids even got a quick glimpse of Santa in the forest from the coach - a fantastic and memorable moment.

On arrival at the hotel we were checked in very smoothly. Ok now for the details on the hotel:

Reception & Bar area - small, but very efficient. Drinks were very expensive, but this is normal in Finland wherever you stay.

Rooms - very clean, quite basic and small but we didn't spend that much time in the room, so it really didn't matter. The beds were incredibly comfortable, but I think I could have slept on a washing line as we were so tired at the end of enjoying every day there. We had a small fridge and a television that we were able to watch as they get English speaking programmes/films with Finnish subtitles - result! Only 2 negative comments I would make are that there is insufficient storage considering how much stuff you have to bring with you to keep warm outside, so we didn't even bother unpacking, and you had to be quick with the hot water as it ran out. There were 3 of us and if you got the last shower it ran cold if you weren't quick enough!

Food - we were full board and you get 3 good meals a day. It wasn't that imaginative but we definitely didn't go hungry. The Christmas Gala Feast on the last night was an improvement - a lovely buffet and a proper Christmas dinner - yummy!!

The most fantastic things about the hotel were the breathtaking views from whichever window you happened to look out of and the fact that it was really warm, friendly and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel also has log cabins that you can book instead of the hotel rooms - if I ever go back I would definitely go for one of those. They are larger than the rooms and have a drying room (very useful!), a sauna and a lounge/dining area.

All the activities we enjoyed during this trip were of a high standard and it was just fantastic to watch the children's faces throughout. If any of them went there having doubts about Father Christmas' existence - they went home firm believers. I was even starting to believe it myself it was all so well done.

To finish my review I would say that this is a very expensive 4 day holiday but worth every single penny. I would also recommend Cosmos as their reps are out of this world - special thanks to Jamie (we were in Jamie's Jingles!!) - he was totally brilliant and worked so hard to make sure we enjoyed every moment. The rest of the Cosmos team in resort were fantastic too - thank you all for giving us a holiday and an experience that we will cherish and remember forever.

The hotel is nice and quiet, at least on Thursday night for us. Staff is very welcoming, friendly and always happy to help. Breakfast was ok - minus points for not having bacon or eggs + plus points for dark roasted Löfberg's coffee, oatmilk, delicious fresh bread and for hand-picked bilberries. Sauna ready until 8 p.m., males and females separate saunas. Also possible to rent fatbikes! Can recommend.

where can i start....flight was great with Monarch, got suited and booted at the airport, and arrived at the hotel, which with the cabins scattered around it,is in the middle of no-where....brilliant!log cabin was a 2 minute walk away, and had everything we needed...gotta say that we had no problems with the food at all,and being a couple who enjoy a turkish style breakfast,it was fine.Lunch and evening meals were also great, and our 6 yr old daughter was able to eat no problem. The Reps, aylesbury("Dixon"),Jules( G & T ) and Kirsty claus, were great....helpful,funny,approachable.You need to throw yourself into it,sing-alongs etc....we had a flurry of snow xmas morn, and the temperature was only about -7 which was great...we enjoyed the sauna in the cabin, and took tea and coffe stuff,as well as bits for our litlun...having said yhat, you won't go hungry..all in all,the most memorable xmas, for us and our daughter, trouble faulting it unless i were to be really picky...a magical experience..

We stayed for three days in a log cabin which come with an open fireplace, sauna and bedrooms away from early rising children (ours were 5 and 9 years old). The staff were fantastic and fun, Santa and his helpers were great. Meals at the hotel, a short snowball fight from the cabin, were always good and well prepared. If you intend to do all that you can (reindeer sled, dog sled, snowmobiles, Santa's workshop, etc as we did) then expect to be very tired.....but happy! Santa arriving on a reindeer pulled sleigh on the last night and giving out presents, individually selected for each child, was absolutely magical! Thanks to all involved.

Stayed at Hotel Yllasrinne and were positively surprised! Hotel is basic but comfortable and the food is good (small choice on buffet but lots of homemade things e.g. cake for desert). Good quality of meat and fish served.

Perfect location for cross-country skiing as track network starts right behind the hotel. Flood light tracks, well maintained and lots of easy runs! Location therefore much better here then up in the resort where the other hotels are. Skiers are better served up the hill (e.g. Saaga) to be close to lifts but ski bus goes to Hotel Yllasrinne and stops in front.

Supermarket and a few restaurants/pub a good 30-40 min walk away but doable (alternative is bus - watch times). Supermarket in village Yllasjarvi is cheaper than (v small) supermarket up near Saaga Hotel. Also found that sometimes price difference if booking tours/activities - so shop around, Yllas Adventures in Yllasjarvi offer a better deal on some trips than for example Arctic Safaris up in the Sport resort (near Saaga Hotel).

From Hotel you can do walks (one of the huts that is near the x-country and snowmobile track) is also reachable on foot which we discovered at the end of our trip. If you are lucky you might see some reindeer there as they have a feeding area in front.

Went in low season in January and nearly had Hotel to ourselves which was fantastic! Spent lots of time in the Sauna!

Good idea if you like your hot drinks during the day is to bring a kettle to use in your room as nothing is available in the hotel during the day (other than bought stuff). Hotel staff nice and helpful but English a bit shaky.

The fresh air and tranquility are fantastic only sometimes during the night there is some noise but that's from other guests who returning to the room so the rooms are not isolated against noise. It was very busy and also for the Safartica excursions sometimes it was in a rush or to many people and that did I not expect to be split in two groups. Over all it was a very nice experience and we would do it again. One week in the forest with every day an activity. In the evening dinner with a lot of choice and fresh fruits at the breakfast. Healthy and tasty and plenty for every one. Fresh flowers on the table and candles at the buffet. The staff is very friendly and helpful at all time, they work very hard to runs this hotel and this concept with the excursions.. You get your winter package with cloves, socks, suit, ... upon arrival and can use it the whole week. Rooms are cleaned not every day but you can ask for more and there are small but that's normal on a ski destination. There was a terras and that makes it good with view on the woods and ski piste. If you come for the cross country ski : THIS IS A DREAM :the route starts at the hotel. Bring good warm under clothes and go for it.
