Warm and nice place to stay. The Kitchen was clean although I did not use it lol. I lived in dorm room where you could talk with other travellers. I was glad that the weather was just perfect for Alpine crossing!!

Friendly greeting from the owners and their cute son, Corey, who helped bring firewood into the lounge to heat up the wood stove.... Comfy bed with individual heaters. Small sink but no real place to store belongings. Like most places we had to work out of our suitcase. There's laundry and a hot tub available to use for 30 minutes. We... More

We booked Plateau Lodge in the first instance because they provided a shuttle service to the start of the Tongariro Crossing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly, providing us with all the information we needed as well as letting us know about other walking options when the weather didn't play ball on the day we originally wanted... We based our selves in the Plateau lodge for the Tongariro crossing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in two different rooms, one with a shared bathroom and one with an ensuite. Both were good with clean facilities and good heating, although the beds can be a little lumpy. A large communal kitchen with the necessary facilities... More

The smell of curry in our room was overpowering--from some serious cooking in the past. Even in the upholstery of the furniture. Nauseating. When I asked for help, the owner came and said he could not smell it! But we could! He offered to spray the room but did not offer a room or any other adjustment. We tried wiping... More

Thank you for your review. The Apartment this Family was in did not reek of Curry . I went in to the room to check the smell and didn't smell anything that is correct and yes I did offer to spray our odder eater in the room . The lodge was booked out and another room was not available so... More

My husband and I stayed in one of the lodge rooms w/ en suite bathroom. We enjoyed our stay for several reasons: availability to order breakfast or a packed lunch, laundry facilities available, a room that suited our needs & was well cleaned, and close access to Tongariro. We really had wanted to do the Alpine Crossing, but the weather... More

Zeus and his wife are lovely and v helpful. The tongariro crossing was spectacular. The shared dorm we stayed In was a bit small, but very clean and there was good shared facilities - kitchen and bathrooms. Packed lunch wasn't amazing- but quite hard to get good sandwiches in the middle of nowhere! Would recommend Plateau Lodge.

Stayed here for 2 nights for our hike at the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Staff at the reception was really helpful with all the local information especially on local hikes. The room was clean and adequate as a base and the bathroom was large and equipped with a super powerful shower which was well appreciated. Great stay and highly recommended!

The hotel has common area for cooking which was very useful and fun to link with other travellers. The hot tub had a very strong chemical smell, we could not go it was too strong. It's close to the mountains.
