Stopped at Old Orchard en route to western cape to get an early start through the "Transkei" and avoid congestion. Selected dam view room which was large, quite comfortable and clean and had everything required for a one night stay or more. Pizza from their new oven was great with loads of topping. Overall no complaints.

Stayed here for one night during a road trip and I have to say it was one of the standout places during my entire trip. It's in a nice and quiet location, the place itself is very rustic but modern and brimming with charm. The rooms were plenty big, with nice balconies and very well designed - clean and comfy...

Overnighted on way from JHB to Transkei. Lakeside room but drought conditions meant the lake was very low. Lovely situation at foot of mountains. Room was large, comfortable & clean. Service at reception & restaurant excellent helpful & willing. A good sign was that the restaurant was well supported by the locals not just lodge guests. Had a good pizza...

Although we had friendly service, good food and a clean room, it was not 4 star quality. Insolation between the rooms is really bad. We could hear our neighbours snore. We had no warm water and had to take a cold shower. We had an old small tv with all programs having an orange undertone. Accommodation did not match the...

I stayed in Room 5, directly below the gravel driveway where you can hear cars coming and going at all hours. It looked onto the carpark. Rather book a water-facing room for a bit more privacy. The bed was very hard, heating and electric blankets took care of the cold. The service in the restaurant was outstanding, and while I...

Friendly staff. Good harty food & relaxed atmosphere. Wood burning fires in the winter nights at reception & restaurant creates a nice warm comfy welcome. Very nice stay. Rooms are good & has everything you need.

Situated exactly 4 kms from the centre of the town, a guard-gate “protects” the entrance to the property and admittance is only allowed once a name and reason for entry has been supplied. The facility is based on an old farm which includes a dam and a restaurant – with the rooms situated in chalets at various locations around the...

A charming guest house with thatched timber chalets overlooking a tranquil water-hole with good opportunities to spot small wild life and a variety of birds. The room was well furnished and comfortable with a large shower cubicle. Electric blankets on the double bed - essential in the winter months. The restaurant was very pleasant with an 'Alpine style' log fire...

I stayed over at The Old Orchard as a result of it being recommended to me by my Manager who had previously stayed over. I would definitely recommend it to travelers on business or leisure. The food was great, I sampled the wood oven pizza for supper and the breakfast was great.

A pleasant stay with comfortable rooms. Dinner was great and I really appreciated the fact they offered Gluten free pizza. Recommended for overnight stays with a lovely view of the dam. Staff are very friendly and accommodating with reasonable rates. Definitely one of the best in Kokstad
