We stayed in Room 3 and were warm and comfortable. The share toilet and bathrooms were kept clean and complimentary tea/coffee was available. Staff were all friendly. Breakfast and dinner was available for purchase. Pretty good barista coffee was also available for purchase.

As group of 6 we had dinner at the Western Star hotel, our orders were varied but all agreed they were tasty, hot, the meats were tender and you certainly couldn't complain that they were small portions, quite the opposite. The menu was varied in its meats, plenty of vegetables or salad sides. a vegetarian option available too. The staff... More

Spacious clean rooms with good air conditioning and facilities. I highly recommend the homemade Rissoles if you're looking for a delicious meal. Heading east out of Birdsville, the Western Star Hotel in Windorah was a welcome overnight stop.

Friendly hosts, good food, cold beer, clean rooms and amenities. It's great to have a yarn with the friendly locals who enhanced our outback experience and a great place to meet fellow travellers for tips on road conditions and highlights along the way.

I've been to dozens if not hundreds of outback pubs over the past decades. This one felt like it had been made over to suit more upmarket caravan travelers who don't really know what to look for in an outback pub. The meals were overpriced and in fact the food was really ordinary (chips were greasy and burnt and the... More

Thought that this place was a bit expensive at $150 rack rate, but it proved to be comfortable and we had no complaints, but neither was it memorable. A bed and a feed for the night was all we were seeking and that's what we got.

Only stopped in for a drink but was so much more! Could have stayed for hours. Wonderful chatting to locals, travellers and very, very lovely staff - all who are young British travellers on working visas. Don't miss this pub even if you are only passing through town!
