It is pretty much impossible to find words to describe our experience at Mountain Equestrian Trails (MET) in Belize. I planned the trip especially for my little sister's High School graduation get-away. The idea was not just to spent amazing quality time together, but to also give my little sister a little taste of cultural diversity. However, what MET had...

Jim, the owner, his son Arron and daughter in law, daughter Amy, are great people who make you part of their family as soon as you get to the Lodge. Geo, Rego and Rego Jr. are fantastic guides who make each ride a pleasure as well as an educational experience. The horses are great and actually look forward to getting...

Be sure to visit this place if you ever visit Belize! The accomodation and food are as good as you can come by in place in the middle of the djungle. The standards are set high and at the same time you get the experience of beeing in the heart of Belize. Beds are outstanding. Your guides are the best...

Our trip. It was so great to be back in Belize. George a Private Driver picked us up at the airport for our 1 1/2 -1 3/4 hr drive to MET. With one brief pit-stop to get us some Belikin Stouts. The road is all paved until you turn off at Georgeville. The all season road called both the Pine...

If you want rustic and natural, this is the place. Run by the Bevis family, it is a jewel in the jungle. Individual cabins make it very comfortable, and communal dining makes it feel like you are at a friends cottage. You are deep in the hilly jungle, and the equestrian aspect makes it all accessible. Great caving, river swimming...

There is no way the Bevis family could make Mountain Equestrian Trails any better than it already is. First, the horses, they are very will mannered and very responsive to commands. They are so sure-footed that one has to trust them on the steep trails going up or down mountains. The guides are wonderful at pointing out plants and telling...

Thank you for writing your wonderful review! You wrote a great description of the day tours and the ambiance of life at MET. Thanks for mentioning the stars as they are rarely mentioned even though the night sky is spectacular. We hope to see you another day!

I stayed at MET for the first time after doing a lot of research on horseback riding adventures in the Belizean jungle and overall, I wasn't disppointed in the natural beauty of Belize nor was I disappointed in my primary riding guide, Rigo, but other frustrations abounded with the small, family run operation. First, immediately upon booking, I was overcharged...

I do owe you several apologies. The double charge was a mistake which we corrected immediately, confirming with our bank that the duplicate charges never cleared. It was your bank that delayed the return of your funds. I am so sorry for the inconvenience. You have valid complaints about the vehicles. We have since replaced and repaired them. As for...

We are so thankful we chose to stay with the Bevis' over Christmas. Our seven-year daughter, Anam, misses Sierra, Alex, Poncho the horse and Ripley the dog, and mentions them all the time. I rediscovered my love of riding and Anam just blossomed on the horses - these are not plodding trail rides - we cantered, rode through challenging jungle...

We recently visited the Cayo District and took a full day ride with our guide Rego to the Falls. I will make sure that a similar trip is on our itinerary for our next visit...

My first trip more than 100 miles from a U.S. border and I loved it. The owners of the MET have created a wonderful place to stay. The amenities just barely include electricity and internet, so if you simply must spend hours on your computer or phone each day, this is not the place for you. For the rest of...

Thank you for writing a review. As an update to the electricity situation, we have upgraded our system to solar so there is 24 hour electricity in the Cantina for charging electronics and for Internet if needed. Internet is still limited and sometimes slow if there are too many users. We are offering the best we can under the circumstances....

“Cottages are basic but clean and nice. No air conditioning or electricity but during our stay we didn't need it. Beds were fair, clean but not as comfortable as many. Windows & porch views are worth a mint. Rooms are lite with kerosene lamps - so harder to read by with bugs who are attracted to the lights. Not a place where you live in the rooms anyway because there is so much to see outside!”

“The casitas have en suite bathroom/shower, each bed has a mosquito net. Very roomy. These are open air rooms, so some "wildlife" may join you, such as some very cool insects. All the casitas are nicely secluded and a short walk to the main meeting area. Nice porch with chairs. Can't say that any of the casitas are "better" than any others... all are quite nice.”
