I travelled to Costa Rica in April with my 13yr old - not interested in lying on the beach for 7 days - we headed for the Monteverde area - there are plenty of 'green' and 'eco' lodgings in CR and many are making great efforts, however the UGA Ecolodge definitely stands apart. The rooms (we stayed in a Cabina)...

I really felt fully immersed in Costa Rican culture here at the Ecolodge! Honestly, my favorite part of our whole trip was staying here. It was absolutely beautiful! The family running the Ecolodge was so kind and welcoming. The food was also delicious! Staying here was the Costa Rica I wanted to experience. You can see a million stars at...

This was a great home base and a fantastic place for kids. Lots of stuff for an 8 year old and 10 year old to do. The guided hikes, the "insect-o-rama" and other tours with the resident naturalists (and maybe 30 monkeys!) were a great introduction to Costa Rican plants and wildlife. In addition to the things that we did...

We came to bird the Cloud Forest and stayed 3 nights. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They lined up guides for us at Monteverde Reserve and Curi Cancha, arranged early breakfast, and packed lunches. The meals are eaten family style with the other guests, faculty, and naturalists. The campus is beautiful and quite isolated, which we enjoyed. In...

We were looking forward to our time here and were absolutely thrilled with our experience. Like camp for adults and kids we had 3 meals a day in the dining room (fresh fruit juice, salad, rice, beans, a meat dish and another dish), and had a choice of activities. Our kids had the freedom to run around the huge property (800...

I can't say enough good things about the staff and accommodations at UGA. If you're interested in learning a bit about Costa Rica from a naturalist/academic perspective, look no further! You could easily spend 4-5 days here and still not have done everything they have to offer-- Between the day hikes, night hikes, bird watching, bug collecting, cow milking, etc....

We stayed for two nights in a tourist cabin at UGA and absolutely loved it. After we arrived, we sat down with a naturalist to plan our activities for the rest of our visit, choosing from a "menu" of talks and walks. The naturalists were friendly, well-informed and enthusiastic about the nature they were explaining. We have three kids and...

Phenomenal experience for our family (2 girls ages 7 and 8)! We enjoyed our 5 days at San Luis Ecolodge and all learned so much. The girls were completely engaged and loved interacting with the naturalists. We usually did activities in the morning and evening at the lodge and went into Monteverde during the day for a hike or different...

Our high expectations were exceeded during our stay at the UGACR Ecolodge. Simple but clean rooms with rich wood finish, bathroom lit by an expansive skylight, and a beautiful central building with large mess hall and simple but tasty and healthy food. However, what really stood out were the people. Daniel Leiton, the manager of the facility, made us feel...

Ecolodge San Luis is run by the Universithy of Georgia. It is a great place to stay because scientists are there to help run tours as well as do their research. Rooms include three meals a day eaten family style with other guests and naturalist staff. There are student groups studying as well as families and couples and friends. There...
