My boyfriend and I had a marvelous stay at Hotel el Bosque, for three nights. It is in a GREAT location, midway between the town (Santa Elena) and the Cloud Forest Reserve. We walked up to the reserve every day, a lovely 50 minute walk (but there is also a bus that picks up outside the hotel at various times)....

Perfect surroundings, comfortable rooms, hot showers, laundry service, excellent breakfast. Everything was amazing!! The one thing I'd like to mention though, is that their website says they are .9kms from the Cloud Forest Reserve. Thinking we were that close, I decided to walk there. Turns out it was a 3.2km hike (1.9 miles). So if Monteverde is on your itinerary,...

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days. This place is in such a great location and close to the cloud forest and other attractions. Stop by the bat conservatory if that interests you. Daniel and Aaron are such amazing staff and set a great example for what hospitality is. I arrived with a sick child and asked for directions...

Hey Senthil, First and foremost you're family is great and I appreciate that you chose us for your stay :) Being a father myself, I can relate to how it feels when a little one is not feeling well, and not having a car in that situation I'm sure was very frustrating so a trip to the pharmacy was nothing,...

If you want inexpensive basic lodging in a beautiful setting this is the place. Nothing fancy, but the breakfast is great, friendly staff, and lots of wildlife in the immediate area. Make sure to walk the trails adjacent to the property. They are similar to what you see in the cloud forest preserve and they are free. Would go back...

Hi Ken, Thanks for your comment. Just to clarify, the trails next door belong to a company called "El Bosque Preserve". They are not free. They have an entrance fee of $10 per person but I pay a monthly special fee so our guests can use the trails for free. It's good to clarify this so that other guests can...

To call this an hotel is overstretching it! Staff were very good and friendly, but the accommodation was ....well it was as if I was 12 again and with the girl guides. The three of us shared an extremely large dormitory size room ( no complaints), sparsely furnished, a fridge and poor lighting. The shower was large and functional, but...

Hi ukdianeuk, Thanks for your feedback. Looks like you did a review of the roads of Monteverde more than about our hotel itself... All feedback is welcome, though in this case, it's not clear what you recommend we should improve... Except for the light on the room (thanks for this! will look into it). As for the "cheap" options to...

This hostel is run by two very enthusiastic brothers that will help you always out with questions, tour bookings and transport (e.g. Jeep-Boat-Jeep). I've never met other Costa Ricians that speak that good English like these two! The expression"hotel" is maybe a littlebit missleading. In fact it is a true hostel (W/O any dorms and loud young crowd). And that's...

Hi Chris, Thanks for your feedback. Even though a hostel may sound like the proper term, it really doesn't fit us as it targets younger/louder generations and it also doesn't offer other amenities we do (like more than 5KM of hiking trails onsite, etc...). As with the Night Tour, nature works in mysterious ways... Other people will tell you that...

Basic Clean comfortable rooms with excellent beds and good breakfast! Good value for money. Beautiful location - loved awaking up to bird sounds! We were a big group and Daniel at the front desk was very helpful. He arranged various activities for us. Bit away from town but that was the totally worth it. Enjoyed exploring the walking trails on...

Hello Bole Family, Thanks for your feedback :) So glad to hear you had a great time here :) Night Tours sometimes are great (you see many animals) and other times they are not so great (not many animals show up) but unfortunately this is just nature and we can't control it... If you have more specific feedback, feel free...

Cute bungalows - he rooms were reasonable size and had comfy beds. The shower was not the most powerful but plenty hot enough. One curtain rail was rather unsteady and fell down! The wildlife was fantastic - lots of hummingbirds and agoutis just outside the rooms. Lovely little gardens in front of the bungalows and also benches to sit quietly...

Hi Scarlett, Thanks for your comment. I was OOO so Johana (our cook) backed me up. She is currently learning English so that's probably why some things were lost in translation and I am sorry about that... Trails are open from 5am to 5pm. Cheers, Daniel Lalinde

We have stayed in some wonderful hotels, and our stay here was high up with the best of them, simply because everything was “just right”. From making the booking the impression given to us was quality service and in the end we wished we had stayed for longer. The Hotel is on the road from Monteverde to the Cloud Forest...

Four of stayed at this hotel and we all thought that it was great. The 2 brothers at the front desk (Joshua and Daniel) were very helpful with suggestions of what to do and made all of our bookings. The layout of the hotel had cabin like rooms side by side. It feels like you are in a cabin in...
