It's a strange place and we were glad to leave. The accommodation consists of rooms in chalet-style blocks built on the side of a steep hillside. Such is the steepness that the hotel offers free shuttle service between the rooms and reception. Superficially it looks very attractive but our experience was cold and cheerless, So avoid room 407. The room...

After reading previous reviews I was a bit nervous about staying here, but it's perfectly fine. Weirdest rooms I've ever stayed in-huge and very brown but kept nice & clean with lovely linen Breakfast not great but adequate. Long way out of town but made up for by the views which are stunning

After reading the reviews here, I was very nervous to stay at this hotel, which was part of a tour package. First the good points:. Rooms and bathrooms are very large with plenty of closet space and a medicine cabinet in which to store your items. The grounds are nice and have a "lodge" feeling. The included breakfast was very...

Having read previous reviews, we were not looking forward to 2 nights in this hotel. However, our room was in the 200s so not too much of a climb! The beds were clean and comfortable although the pillows were very lumpy. Room huge. Coffee machine with coffee. No aircon or heating and it was very cold (in January). Bathroom also...

Our family of 4 was booked this hotel as part of an itinerary package. Location in town was nice. Hotel itself is very lacking. The grounds layout is terrible. The front desk and dining area is in a separate building which is a long distance (approx. 100 yards) from closest main lodging. The walk is a steep decline/ incline to...

This was the worst hotel we stayed at on our tour of Costa Rica. The bedrooms are huge, I suppose they have to be cause the beds are massive! The bathroom was small, with nowhere to put your stuff and while under a hot shower it suddenly went to cold !! The meals were edible, but to get to them...

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour of Costa Rica. We were in the best lodges at the top with fantastic views. Those in lodges below us would have had no view. The rooms are huge with decent bathrooms, There is no air con, but to be honest it was quite chilly anyway. We had no...

The layout of this hotel is very interesting. We had a room in the 500's, which required us to drive up this huge hill to get there. The map provided at front desk was useless. No roads or landmarks. We had to walk to the room, and then backtrack on foot in order to find the road that takes you...

What a weird place. We stayed here 2 nights, on a 7 night tour of central and northern Costa Rica. The best thing that can be said about the Heliconia is its proximity to the amazing Monteverde cloud forest. Otherwise it's hard to pull out some positives..... In decent weather it has a great view from the chalet-style buildings, strung...

Staying at this hotel was awful from start to finish. The bed linen in the rooms... dirty with marks all over them and they did not smell fresh, washed or at all clean, they smelt slept in. There were mosquito's everywhere in the room and bathroom. There was no air conditioning so this made it worse, also the windows had...
