This was my second stay at La Colina & I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Monteverde. As the years go by Santa Elena (i.e. downtown Monteverde) continues to grow and become more touristy - why come to the cloudforest to eat sushi & go to the centro comercial? La Colina is located at the entrance to the monteverde preserve, wake...

La Colina Lodge was a great place to call home while in the Santa Elena/Monteverde area. We stayed 3 nights and thought it was a great value. The rooms are comfortable and have a lot of character! The turkeys, roosters, and dogs at to La Colina's charm. The food is great and Kevin and Nancy are very hospitable and willing...

We had 2 nights at La Colina and wanted out after a few hours. The first night the wife and children were away, leaving just the owner. To say the least, we found the place pretty creepy. It was really dusty and one room upstairs was filled with feathers and bird droppings (what the?). We then see the owner walking...

Don't expect pressed sheets and immaculate surfaces. However, this rustic place was very much like home and a fun place to stay. For those who enjoy great people and don't care if an ant crawls into your room (which is unavoidable no matter where you stay) then this is your lodge.

We stayed at la colina lodge for five nights in January. The kids absolutely loved the animals: a baby goat, chickens (roosters...bring ear plugs!), ducks, kittens, dogs, turkeys, and more...the family lives right on-site and if you stay longer than one night, you might just get absorbed into the family watching "the Simpsons" in Spanish with their teenaged daugthers. The...

Me and my boyfriend spent 3 days in Monteverde at La Colina Lodge and we had such a great time! This is the perfect place if you want to enjoy the peace (wich I suppose most of us are looking for in the mountains and national parks, everything well accessable from the Lodge). The owners, Kevin, Nanci and their kids...

Nancy and Kevin were great! This is the most relaxing place I´ve been in Costa Rica. At night the only sounds are the forest! Nancy welcomed me at the door. I arrived at 5pm and was thrilled to find out that they were hosting an evening meal. $7 all you can eat (all homemade food thanks to Kevin). There were...

This place was the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. Since there weren't too many people in the lodge when we got there, Kevin free upgraded our group of four to two rooms instead of a single room that we had booked. In the morning he would make us some coffee and cook some amazing food, most notably his...

Some may have problems with allergies, but this is an amazing place for animal-lovers. The owners are conscientious and kind, and their kids are wonderful. Kevin made us excellent breakfasts (make sure to try his banana pancakes and spiced breakfast potatoes). They were always around to help us figure out what to do next, and made recommendations and arrangements for...

We had a horrible time at a loud B&B and moved to the La Colina lodge for some quite and that's what we found... for the first night. Cindy, the front desk manager/room cleaner/cook/ receptionist/trip planner was/is AMAZING. the second night the owner arrived from California. He is a piece of work. Besides chain smoking in the main room/dining room/TV...

Well, I must admit that I was upset to come home from my vacation after a long and exhausting flight to discover that my neighbor had constructed a hideous seven foot high dumpster right in front of my hotel balcony. Try to picture a Toucan sitting on a dumpster. So I did have a few spirited words with the neighbor...
