A nice accommodation for a couple of nights. it has good beds, no fan or airconditioning. because it is already cold in Monteverde. the owner is really helpfull and possibilities to book tours. the receptionist cannot speak really good english but it was fine. overall a really nice hotel with great views

Pros: - There is a lovely trail leading down to a river which is worth doing! - The owner was very helpful in giving us directions to our next destination. Cons: - I was surprised that this hotel wasn't in a very good spot for watching the sunset?! - The hotel is very small and the rooms are very close...

This hotel/motel is a quiet friendly hospitable place. We arrived early and our host was ready to check us in and share his knowledge of the area around us. He drew us a little map, recommended restaurants and gave us the comparison between the two cloud forest reserves. The hotel has plain but fine rooms that accommodated our diverse group...

The owner, Vitalis, is the best part of the hotel. He is kind, helpful, will talk your ear off, and make you a filing breakfast. He helped us plan our tours as well suggesting walks & other tours. Rooms are basic, thin walls, hard beds but high pressure hot shower. There is a big long veranda which allows for easy...

Enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Hotel. Beautiful views and a great host/owner who made a delicious breakfast each morning. The property felt very safe. The rooms (at least our's on the garden side) was very basic, almost similar to a hostel. We had a little problem with flies in our bathroom, but other than that the room was clean....

We loved the Sunset Hotel. Vitalis, the proprietor, is seriously one of the nicest people I've ever met. He's lived in the area for 50 years and knows every square mile. Clean place, very affordable, up from the road so little traffic noise. Nice nature path on the property; lovely dining room for the free breakfast. I would request a...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had a cozy room with one double bed, a night stand, a small table, and a closet area -- and a bathroom. This was all that we needed. It was great to stand on the veranda with the other guests and watch the sunset. We saw agoutis and pizotes. There is a...

The other reviews say it all - a perfect host, fabulous views and clean comfortable rooms. The 'trail' through the grounds was a perfect way to start the day before breakfast and shouldn't be missed. One word of caution - the track up to the hotel is very steep making it a good 20 min walk back from the two...

We stayed a couple of nights. Room was nice, and very clean. Vitalis was a great host - we enjoyed talking to him and sharing stories. He was also a great resource for the area attractions and places to save a few dollars while getting good value. Nice extras were the really fast internet (can be fairly weak at some...
