The room was very clean and cosy, we were allow to bring our dog and enjoy our two night stay. The food was spot on and the beer was very good. The open fires were very welcoming after a day out walking.

We throughly enjoyed our dinner here! Everything was cooked beautifully and the presentation was amazing! Service was very good too... the log burning fire 🔥 made it feel very cozy and welcoming. It is off the beaten track but well worth it

We stopped here for a spot of lunch after a pleasant circular walk around the area. The immediate feeling as you enter is welcoming. There's a stone flagged floor, and a roaring fire at one end of the room. The small bar is at the other, raised up. The staff were very welcoming, and having taken our drinks orders the...

We popped in on a cold Saturday eve for dinner. Service was so nice and welcoming, the fire was roaring creating a lovely atmosphere and the beer was lovely. Hubby enjoyed his fish and chips immensely, however my vegetarian meal was a large portion of sweet potato topped with a bit of tomato sauce and a few bread crumbs with...

Ate a very good meal here with grand parent and 10 year old. Food very high quality and great choice served by friendly staff and manager/owner. Big portions of fish, chips and mushy peas, fish pie, interesting vegetarian course and huge lamb shank. Good wine and coffee. Dining room was popular for a Monday night and probably worth booking at...

Stayed two nights and had dinner both evenings....lovely place so cosy, homely and relaxed....especially the snug and the log burner! Food was of the highest quality and they made a special effort for me as a veggie....little soup appertizers and wonderful gin menu were a lovely touch. Room was lush (free malteasers) and when you opened the window you could...

Stopped at the White Lion today after walking from Buckden via Hubberholme. A superb and friendly hostelry. Ate a delicious steak sandwich and chips (£11) with a pint of fabulously kept Black Sheep. My partner had a coffee and the soup of the day. Total was £23 and worth every penny. We sat in the snug on a lovey leather...

Very nice place to stay off the beaten track. Super-friendly hosts, immaculately clean and stunningly refurbished. Stayed one night and had a very enjoyable evening. Lovely food at dinner (incredible home made bread) and a very tasty pea velouté. There was a roaring fire and music at a perfect level, - ie in the background, not at a volume to...
