The Kempinski Hotel Ishtar gives you the opportunity to enjoy its riches where Queen of Sheba and Cleopatra once strived to unravel mystery. Situated gracefully on the shores of the largest spa in the world the Dead Sea, unique for its ozone-rich air, mineral sea water and ultra-violet filtered sunshine. Surely there is no region on earth where nature and history have more wonderfully conspired, where so exciting drama has obtained a so beautiful theatre.

Hotel's Favourite
A colossal property with an amazing architecture. Apart from the two infinity pools there’s a basin type pool that is temperature controlled and another pool named “Lazy River” that runs across the property. In addition to the hotel spa, we were given a 5-star mud bath and a salt scrub including a dead sea bath by “Jalal and Eid”, which instantly makes your skin soft like butter and relaxes your body and soul. The hotel captures magnificent Sunsets with two gorgeous views, thanks to another extremely helpful soul Waleed, who went out of the way to help us around the pool and also providing invaluable tips on how to get better sunset pictures from two different places. Cleanliness & Safety • Round the clock staff who are responsible for this make sure that all areas of the hotel meet its quality of cleanliness, rooms are cleaned everyday by default and if for any case the “Do Not Disturb” sign is attached to the door, then the staff will have to be requested for cleaning. • Special thanks to Ivan who made us welcomed and cared while providing us a good history of the hotel and the country. Many thanks to his hospitality and special attention tendered to us during the breakfast. Food • Had a continental buffet on both days with a good international spread, which was arranged in the main restaurant. Another special thanks to Era and Desire who looked after us and made us feel special. • In room dining is possible but expensive, as this includes service charge and taxes. • We had dinner from two restaurants, one was Rehan (Lebanese), which had extraordinary Mixed Grill and a mouth-watering lamb dish named Uzi. Thanks to Hassan who made the special recommendation. • The other is Mediterranean restaurant which has huge portions of pasta and beef lasagne. Accommodation • If you are requesting for a Sea View room, I guess you have to have to villas in the beach front with rooms on the top. Rooms 2301 and 2303 seems to have a better view. • We got a deluxe room which was facing the lazy river swimming pool and the distance view of the Dead Sea. Best request for the lower rooms such as 2701/2703/2601 where you get to enjoy the direct access to the pool with an outdoor private lounge. Value for money: • Value for money was satisfying regarding all aspects of the hotel. However, if you are taking a package, we recommend obtaining a Half-board package. Facilities • All rooms had a Dental Kit, Sanity Kit, toiletries, towels, bath robes and Bed Room Slippers. • Tea/coffee and Creamer are also placed in the villas and more could be requested if necessary with unlimited water supply. • Every room comes with a TV and Hot/Cold water for showers. A safe keeping facility is also available to be used to keep your valuables safe. WIFI is also provided for every room and it is superfast. • Hotel provides a buggy car service to get around facility faster and Basem was helpful and gave us an extended tour on the invaluable collection of olive trees where some of them are older than 700 years. Finally has to thank the Guest Relations Managers, Era and Ivan who were extraordinarily helpful and polite. Truly, top class and they made a good stay even better.

This was our first trip to Jordan and after a fairly unpleasant experience at the border (crossing over from Israel to Jordan - much rudeness on the Israeli side and much confusion and chaos on the Jordanian side) the Kempinksi was a perfect gateway into what turned out to be a wonderful introduction to the country. Check-in was effortless. My husband and I were traveling with a tour company and we were offered an opportunity to upgrade our room to a suite overlooking the Dead Sea, for a minimal amount, which we accepted. Staff could not have been more wonderful from the minute we checked in until we left (and after in fact). We were driven to our room in a van (the property is quite large). The room was spacious, light, well maintained and beautiful. We had a large luxurious bathroom with lovely products infused with Dead Sea minerals, a very comfortable living space, a lovely porch overlooking the Dead Sea and most importantly, a quick walk to the beach and the pools. We had arrived quite late in the day having visited Masada late morning/early afternoon, and so we headed down to the beach to lie in the water and then engage in a mud treatment. The time was around 5pm and the sky/sea vistas were just spectacular. The beach is a little underdeveloped but apparently with the waters receding so rapidly it's hard to landscape effectively. I do hope that the Jordanian and Israeli governments continue their mutual efforts to save the Dead Sea. It is a treasure on so many levels. We dutifully spent 10 minutes in the water, covered ourselves in mud from head to toe and then sat for 10 minutes baking in the sun, and then washed off the mud in the water. Floating in the Dead Sea is a transcendent experience. It's almost like lying on a mattress. Furthermore, you can feel the minerals and salt and mud all working their magic on you as your troubles drift away. When you finally exit the water and shower off the very friendly and supportive staff are there to help you every step of the way. Unbeknownst to me, as I was floating, my husband had decided to leave the water and he tripped on the way up the uneven rocky beach scraping his leg quite dramatically - no breakages and not much pain - but the staff were there immediately to help him and disinfect the scrape thoroughly and apply a bandage to ensure that he healed quickly, which he did. We finally went back to the room, showered and headed to the Ocean restaurant. Food was excellent - local, fresh, perfectly prepared and nicely presented and very tasty. The surprise of the evening was a delicious Jordanian Rose which was not too citrus forward and had just the right balance of fruit and dryness. It was a very refreshing accompaniment to the meal. Prices at the restaurant are very reasonable and service was impeccable. We were particularly charmed by cats the hotel staff had adopted, and I slipped a couple of pieces of chicken to one of them. They are cleaned and vaccinated by the way. While I went up to the bar to see the belly dancing, my husband retired. The dancing was very beautiful and I had another glass of the lovely Rose. The air-conditioning was superb and the bed very comfortable and we both enjoyed a very restful night. In the morning, we headed up to the restaurant for breakfast and had as wonderful a buffet breakfast as I have ever experienced at a resort anywhere in the world. The array of choices was vast and fabulous. Many local foods plus all the usuals - Eggs, beef bacon, beans, pastries, fruit, a roving chef with a special hummus preparation, plenty of juice and coffee. It all added up to make a very luxurious start to the day. We particularly enjoyed the strawberry juice which I'd never had before. We would have loved to have stayed and tried the spa but we had a full agenda and so reluctantly we packed up and readied to leave. We had to continue on our way as we were due in Petra later in the day. We called the van and checked out which was just as smooth and as efficient as check-in. When I arrived in Petra I realized I'd left a beautiful Jacket I had just purchased in Israel behind at the hotel in the closet. I called the hotel and after a series of very professional exchanges they arranged to have it mailed to me back in the United States for a reasonable amount. From the moment we crossed the boarder until the moment we flew out of Amman we had nothing but good things to say about Jordanian hospitality. We are a gay couple, American, Jewish and felt comfortable and graciously and warmly accepted everywhere we travelled. We can't wait to come back and visit and when we do, the Kempinski will be at the top of our list for a return experience.

Amazing hotel for families, large spaces and many pools. Plenty of loungers with extremely friendly staff on hand to help. Spacious clean rooms and all the facilities associated with a five star hotel. Great location with its own access to the Dead Sea. Special shout out to the front office staff who were super helpful with ensuring we had our two family rooms near each other and with a number of other enquiries. Thank you to Waseem, Hossam, Yuqob and Aláa Fasrah. Ivan in the restaurant could not do enough to accommodate our vegetarian needs and ensuring we were looked after.

Had a wonderful time. I did not want to leave! The grounds and pools were incredible. Felt truly pampered from the pools to the restaurants to the Dead Sea. The manager Ivan went above and beyond for us! He’s a true asset to this resort and our stay was better because of him. Jallal at the Dead Sea also went above and beyond to provide a luxurious mud treatment at the Dead Sea. And young Ahmed, a trainee who helped us in the Obelisk buffet, left an impression with me. He works so hard and with a smile on his face. I hope Ahmed goes far with your resort and the Kempinski company.
