We stayed a week at Casa Santiago during the celebrations for Day of the Dead. Kevin and Arminda provide a marvelous experience in Michoacan! First, Kevin picked us up at the airport and then provided us with daily interpretive drives to various places in the area -- to Patzcuaro for the Day of the Dead celebrations, to extravagant local cemeteries... Full disclaimer-we are friends of the owners, and we have seen this oasis grow from a house with no running water, to the lovely, inviting property that it is. The owners, Kevin Quigley and Arminda Flores are an amazing combination of American and Purepecha, the indigenous people of this part of Mexico. What did that mean for us? Well, Arminda... More

Found this place by accident when looking for somewhere to stay close to Paracutin. Well it's a good hours drive from there, but well worth staying in the region because there's lots to see and do. Casa Santiago is run by Kevin Quigley (an American) and his Mexican wife. It is remote and you would really need a car to... More

We spent 4 nights at Casa Santiago in the countryside outside of Patzcuaro. It's close to the lake, and an easy walk to the two neighboring small towns. The B&B itself is a handsome set of buildings in a walled compound, with beautiful en suite rooms and common areas. Arlinda is an outstanding cook and provided us with delicious breakfasts... More

We had a terrific stay here for three nights. Keven & Amerinda are wionderful hosts and the meals were excellent. Staying here is really an educational experience. The owners know everything about this unique part of Mexico. We collect "Day of The Dead" Catrina Dolls. Kevin took us right to the village where they are made and we found the... More

Casa Santiago, a family-run B&B located in the countryside beside Lake Patzcuaro, offers an opportunity to stay with a Purepecha/US family. The family graciously shares their home, and best of all, their kitchen. Specifics and photos are available at their website: [--] I stayed at Casa Santiago twice last year. It provided a refuge for me and was the perfect... More
