We had a wonderful time in Barn Gill House,.. Jean the hostess was the nicest person you'd ever wish to have looking after you. Our Breakfasts each morning were delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautiful, lovely and cosy, with a stunning view out the back..and that waterfall...WoW... loved it and we had a walk up...

A traditional B&B with beautiful views and a tasty breakfast. Have read a few comments about it being dated. This is totally unfair in 2016 when we all have access to the internet and know exactly what we are getting due to the photos and descriptions we have access to beforehand! This is not a modern B&B but it doesn't...

Had a lovely weekend at Barn-Gill House. We arrived late Friday afternoon very late for check in but Jean was very understanding. We were there to attend a wedding nearby the next day. The room was lovely and cosy and the surrounding views are breath taking. A very generous breakfast is served at the dining table with the other guests,...

Host was very welcome. Room and bathroom immaculate with a little 'cake' left everyday to have with coffee. Brilliant breakfast. Very quiet convenient location just off the A591 between Keswick and Grasmere.

My husband and myself spent a lovely long weekend here. Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly and shown to our bedroom and given some basic information. Upon going back downstairs to get our luggage from the car Jean came back and we spoke for a little while which I thought gave our welcome a very friendly. Our room was exceptionally...

A real gem of a find. Jean keeps this barn in tip top condition and it provides a cheaper alternative than youth hostels, many of which have changed hands and gone up market. Right next to Thirlmere lake & good access to walks and treks on Helvellyn mountain. There is wifi (free) at the farm house.

I stayed here for 2 nights and was made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for Jean, the owner, and I was so comfortable. Loved the large breakfast table....as a solo traveller it ensured that I had human contact!

This was only 10 min drive from Keswick & a great place to stay. It is not easy to find because there is no street address. I suggest you call Jean for directions or get the GPS coordinates before you leave for the House. Mobile/cell phone signal is mostly non-existent in the lakes district so pre-download necessary maps to avoid...

Lovely peaceful B&B with amazing views.Cosy well appointed en-suite room complete with a mini fridge and a generous hospitality tray. Breakfast was a feast. Freshly prepared juice, fruit salad, choice of cereals, toast, scones, preserves and then an amazing home cooked breakfast.

We stayed here for 5 nights while walking and climbing in the Lake District. Despite a last minute change to our booking details, everything was in place when we arrived and we were made very welcome. The room was a little small for us, but very comfortable with a nice en suite shower room. There was a super view from...
