We spent two nights at La Bastide de Boulbon and enjoyed our stay very much. The room, the service and the meals where excellent. It is a charming place in an old villa with a wonderful garden and a pool. Since Boulon is very small and has only a couple of restaurants, dinner at the hotel is a good option. We had a very nice dinner with good wines at reasonable prices.

My wife and I stayed at the Bastide in July. Our time there was lovely and because of the good care of the owners we felt completely at ease. Marie-Claire and Jan are very welcoming, friendly hosts who will do everything in their power to accommodate you during your stay. When we arrived we we're immediately invited for a welcome drink. On certain nights they offered a delicious dinner menu (cooked by Jan himself), which we highly recommend! We can only hope that the new owners of the hotel have their same finesse and hospitality, because it takes a lot to do a better job than them.

My husband and I stayed at the Bastide de Boulbon for three nights in September. It was one of the highlights of our trip through the south of France. From the moment we arrived and walked through the charming little gate, we felt a wave of serenity come over us. Whether sitting in the garden enjoying a glass of wine, taking a dip in the pool, or enjoying a beautiful dinner on the patio, we felt relaxed, welcome, and well taken care of the entire stay. The property itself is beautiful. It is exquisitely maintained and retains all the charms of an old Provencal country house, but the rooms are nicely updated with modern comforts. It was the perfect mix of new and old. Comfortable beds, good showers, interesting art on the walls. We loved it all. The owners, Marie-Claire and Jan, could not have been better hosts. They were both so welcoming and accommodating. They offer you plenty of privacy but are always available and prompt whenever you need anything at all. They obviously take great pride in the property and always seem to be making their way around ensuring everything is in order whether straightening up the yard or tending to the breakfast service. On certain nights they offer dinner or apero, and I highly recommend you partake. Everything they serve is so fresh and flavorful, much of it from their own garden. We enjoyed a beautiful lamb dish one night (perfectly cooked by Jan), and a lovely cold plate of assorted vegetables, cheeses, and cured meats another night - all excellent. The elegant Marie-Claire helped us with wine recommendations as well including a delightful Cairanne that we are still talking about. All in all this was the perfect place for exploring Provence. Central location making it easy to see many different sites, and what a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is our second time at the Bastide. Our first stay was in 2017, when we met a lovely couple from Boston ( they were on their fourth stay) We arranged to meet them again in October and we all agreed that we've failed to find a place that matches this lovely place. We cannot praise the Bastide highly enough. Jan and Marie Claire are perfectionists in every aspect --from the very comfortable, spotless rooms to the wonderful food. They surpass on it all. The grounds of the Bastide are outstandingly, peaceful and beautiful, the gigantic plane trees are amazing. I didn't feel the need to write a review this year as I left one on the Sawday's site after our visit two years. All the Trip Advisor reviews reflect the excellence of this place, except for the previous one dated September 2019 by an anonymous writer. I can only think that this review relates to a completely different property.

We enjoyed the welcome in this hotel, it looks like a guest house, nice park well maintained, very simple but correct restoration, on our arrival there was hair in the bathroom and the toilets were dirty, certainly we have all cleaned but we did not want to extend our stay!

Response from jiediem, Propriétaire at La Bastide de Boulbon

Dear linkisA606, You recently wrote an anonymous and negative commentary on TripAdvisor. I don’t recall a guest named LinkisA606 and I can’t remember anyone staying at La Bastide de Boulbon who complained about hair and a surprise in the toilet. I deliberately write the full name of our hotel in case you mistook our hotel for another one. In the last 10 years, there’s 529 guests who wrote feedback on Tripadvisor, you are the first to give negative feedback on hygiene. Anyhow, if I would find hair in the bathroom or notice something unidentifiable in the toilet in a 4 star hotel, I would go to the manager or owner and share with him or her my unpleasant experience. If what you described really did happen at our hotel, we pity you did not come and talk to us. You could also have sent us an email afterwards, but you chose to write an anonymous and negative feedback online. In France they’d say “Chapeau” (hat off for that). Kind regards, 007JanA607957
