Giovanni and Luis are the best! We were early but were still able to move into our Villa Turcan straight away. The car was parked in the hotel car park and the three dogs enjoyed the shade of the car. Our accommodation was spacious, had two bedrooms, a living area, a small kitchen counter (although without a fridge), and a shower room. There were floor-to-ceiling windows with insect screens all around and from the two bedrooms we had access to a small terrace with seating and a view of the rainforest. We immediately felt at home and were enchanted by the background noise. The whole area is green and lushly overgrown and planted. Giovanni immediately showed us ginger, turmeric, coffee, vanilla, banana, lemon balm and oranges as well as various flowers - a real gem! The accommodations are all spaced apart, there is a large lounge area adjacent to the pool and a seating area by the kitchen. As we had booked half board, Giovanni and Luis cooked for us on both evenings and served the food outside. On the second evening we didn't choose anything from the menu, but asked for local cuisine, which was well worth it! Breakfast was also served outside. We were allowed to express our wishes, which were fulfilled. Giovanni was kind enough to book us a visit to the Bosque Eterno de los Minos. The nights were heavenly special thanks to the exotic sounds of the animals and the stream flowing through the area. We watched and heard golden-throated toucans, hummingbirds and other birds. Unfortunately we had to move on after two days. I would have loved to stay longer in this place! Full recommendation!!!

We have been to San Rafael Ecolodge five times. The gardens and greenery are fabulous, accompanied by the musical sounds of the rainforest. We are always treated like royalty by Giovanni and Luis. They have made many upgrades over the last few years, and each stay is more pleasant than the last one. You'd be hard pressed to find more congenial, exuberant hosts - they really do make you feel like family . The Hotel is walking distance to town for basic necessities, but if you let the hosts cook for you, you will not be disappointed. Muchas gracias to you both, and we will return!

We stopped one night at this hotel on the way to the Arenal volcano and it was a great success. Best of all, Giovanni and Luis make you feel at home. The breakfast is very complete and rich, the bed is very comfortable and the entire environment surrounding the hotel is idyllic. Having breakfast I was able to see a hummingbird in addition to appreciating all the beautiful sounds of the birds that surround them. 100% recommended

Perfect to go as a couple, my wife and I had very special moments here. The staff is very friendly and trained as they provided us with personalized attention, excellent food and warm facilities for a relaxing time with family and loved ones. Note: they have a dog and it is very playful and adorable.

The lodge is a beautiful oasis in the mountains of La Tigra. The hosts Luis and Giovanni are very friendly and helpful and give tips for excursions (e.g. Chocolate and Farm Tour Don Jorge). The villa is very spacious and beautifully designed and everything is clean. The entire complex is a dream with many beautiful plants and animals, e.g. Blue Jeans Strawberry Frog, hummingbirds and three friendly dogs. The super delicious breakfast was freshly prepared every morning according to our wishes. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

My stay felt like visiting family. My family and I spent time just sitting and conversing with the owner and staff over coffee between visiting the volcano and hot springs, shopping, etc. I even got to assist in making a traditional Costa Rican breakfast for my family and other guests. Besides being immersed in nature at the hotel, the cooking lesson was a memorable experience. A return visit is already in the works.

Hospitality is a top priority here. All our wishes were immediately fulfilled by Giovanni and his staff, whether it was about eating or laundry. The apartment had everything it needed, everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is quiet, the garden beautiful and supermarkets are nearby. A beautiful country place ideal for relaxing and disconnecting from the outdoors. The very comfortable and beautiful rooms that allow the guest to rest fully, and not to mention the owner (don Giovanni) and his team who made us have a unique experience for their excellent customer service. Luis and Giovanni live the Pura Vida attitude. They are warm and exude pure joy of life.
The food is very good and is prepared fresh every day. Despite many options for eating out, we always chose Luis and his cooking skills! The hotel complex is beautiful and clean.
Luis and Giovanni give helpful tips for the area without being intrusive.
We really enjoyed it and are grateful that we were allowed to be guests!

The apartment had a living area and a wet bar area. We stayed in 4 places in Costa Rica. None of them had air conditioning. The temperature was very pleasant at the San Rafael.
