Just completed an overnight rafting trip. Wonderful experience! The remote lodge was beautiful. Staff was excellent. The rafting was great. Our guide, Albert, was very knowledgeable. Not only did he insure that our rafting experience was wonderful, he also took us on a beautiful hike. Food was very good, and everyone really went out of their way to make sure...

A truly idyllic setting, comfortable rooms, fantastic food and amazing staff. This is the real deal Costa Rican rainforest adventure. If the rafting wasn't so much fun you'd never want to leave. Soak in natural pools under waterfalls, hike in the lush rainforest or just chill out in the hammocks. The gentle roar of the Pacuare River in the valley...

This is a very remote lodge on one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in the world. The lodge is accessible only by water or trail. Cooking facilities are remarkably well equipped (no restaurant, bring your food.). Hot water, electricity, comfortable minimalist rooms. The gem is the setting! Beautiful rainforest, complete with birds, flowers, waterfalls, hiking trails, natural swimming holes--just...

We are a family of 5 (kids ages 12, 13 and 21) and this was our favorite adventure while in Costa Rica. We are very adventurous and love being outdoors, and this 2 day trip was exactly what we were looking for! Our guides Adam and Michael were outstanding, and we felt we got first class service and like we...

Thanks a lot for your review, yes the Lodge is very special for family groups, and the hidden waterfalls are everywhere, just got to go look for them. The Rios Tropicales team is very happy that this was the highlight of your vacation.

Very nice lodge with a beautiful nature. Our guide Alex was very nice and good, he was a very nice guy and a very good instructor in the raft, he also learned us how to make natural paint and a lot of other stuff. It was an unforgettable moment in the lodge thanks to our guide Alex ;) If you're...

We were so impressed with the people (Albert and Diego) at Rios Tropicales because they went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience possible. When we arrived at the operations center it had been raining very hard all night and day and they told us that the river was to high to raft. So instead...

We had a 3 day 2 night trip. We had own personal guide Enzo. Day 1 - drive to location to get in Raft. It was just us and Enzo along with Brian in a kiosk for extra assistance if needed. I have never been white water rafting before but it was so much fun. When we arrived at the...

We came here on the 3 days, 2 nights tour and absolutely loved it. As per descriptions on the first day you do a little rafting but they separate you from the day trip and you get to do a little hike to a waterfall and a nice lunch by the river. The second day we stayed in camp and...

A great rustic lodge and setting. The outside dining prepared by the guides only adds to the experience and camaraderie. A good ride in and a great ride out. We were at the tipping point with high water for being allow to raft out but just made it under the limit and had an exhilerating run out.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our multi-day trips treat you to an exceptional adventure vacation experience combining rafting on the Pacuare with a stay at our remote "Eco-Lodge", tucked in the rainforest on the banks of the river. A trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and ravishing rapids; Pacuare is the quintessential tropical river. Along its course lay several densely vegetated gorges, which shelter, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, sloths and an incredible variety of birds. Also found within these gorges, is some of the best whitewater in the world. "at its lodge, hammock-filled, thatch-roofed huts, offering dorm and honeymoon style rooms, surround an even larger thatch-roofed lodge net to a gurgling waterfall linking the huts to the lodge’s open-walled dining room, bar and reading room are bamboo-railed boardwalks that make wearing anything but river sandals sacrilegious. Don’t get so comfortable in the reading room’s hammock; however, that you miss the cocktail-hour bell; in true jungle fashion, all apres-paddle drinks are served in coconut shells." (Paddler magazine article, jan./feb.1999, edb). ... more   less
