I respect bad opinions but mine is so different. After many days of trekking and hard time in the jungle and mountain,I consider El Colonial as an oasis, and a perfect place to rest in Choroni. My room was so clean,as the bath also was,and interior terrace of the hostal is great to have breakfast or a sweet shower after beach.Staff is...

We stayed here for 3 nights and were treated like scum. Hospitality is definitely not in the vocabulary of any of the staff members. We now know why this is the cheapest place in Puerto Colombia. There are plenty of other much friendlier and more welcoming hostels to stay in.

Hi, me and my sister stayed here at the start of our backpacking tour of Venezuela. It was exactly what were needed, cheap and clean rooms, friendly helpful staff (who spoke english) and security. There was always someone manning the reception hence the security. Our room was right by the entrance which i think was near to a bus stop....

Hostal Colonial has super cheap rooms ($16 for privates with no bathroom) as well as more expensive rooms with bathrooms. We stayed there for a week, although we met people who were also in cheap rooms in other hostels. The common areas are very bright with nice views and gardens, our room was very large but dark. It did have...

The Hostal Colonial staff are quite friendly for Venezuelan standards. They smile and are always there to give advice or answer questions. The hostel itself is very clean and well managed. For a room with two beds and no bathroom the price was 80 bolivar per night, with two beds and a private bathroom the cost was 120. These prices...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hostal Colonial has new owners. We were trying to combine the convenience of the old Hostal Colonial with a lot of comfort. We believe we were successful!! Some of the 16 rooms, the apartments and the house for 10 persons are now equipped with air condition. In the new lounge we installed Cable TV and a computer for our guests. We transformed the parking lot rinto a garden. The biggest change is certainly the lovingly designed swimming pool with small waterfall. The Posada is equipped with wifi, generator and parking lot. The guests of all our Posadas can use our restaurant for breakfast at an affordable price The "Tourist Information" which is headed by Claudia, is now in Hostal Nova Colonial ... more   less
