I base my rating on the fantastic Rock Art hike which took in the Ikanti rock panels 1, 2 and 3 guided by Russel Suchet (owner of Sani Backpackers Lodge). He was very knowledgeable, not only about rock art and scholars’ hypotheses, but also about the ecology and history of the area. There was an abundance of flora and we...

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are delighted to be able to provide not only a base for foreign travellers but also for South African's touring their own country . We know how much there is to see and do in this incredible country and with the Rand currency trading at an all time low, local travel provides an...

We stayed just one night on our way bavk from the Wild Coast. Was clean and simple but nice. The rooms were extremely hot but then the type of heat experienced is not that common in the area. Dinner was delicious! The little shop ia great too and I would recommend visiting the hotel nearby for a dip in the...

Thank you for your input and happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us even if just for a night. As you say, the unprecedented heatwave that hit even our mountain location , drying up dams and rivers which along with the severe drought has broken records all over South Africa. The rains never came in November and December...

I stayed one night here in this hostel and was happy with the clean and comfortable facilities. Price was OK and the kitchen and warm living room were enough for my stay. WC and shower were clean and well taken care. My dorm room was comfy and provided a good night sleep. Early morning I headed towards Sani Pass.

Second stop in the drakensberg was at Sani Lodge Backpackers. The staff is very helpful and try their best to make you a pleasant experience. Hiking is great and the views are stunning. We booked an ensuite rondavel, which did not disappoint. It's very basic and you share it with plenty of small animals, but it is clean, has everything...

A bit confused about this place. Stayed for two nights in November 2015, while I did enjoy the hike to Hodgens Peak and the owners knowledge about Lesotho is great, I didn't enjoy the "vibe" of the place. Could be due to some big groups that were staying here during my stay, but did not enjoy the stay too much....

Your words have created a great deal of sadness and shock for our team at Sani Lodge and made the process of replying onerous indeed. We have conducted a thorough investigation into your stay and find you to fall into a category of guests who are few and far between; those who are unhappy with most things, have little experience...

We stayed at Sani Lodge in October 2015 as we fancied a few days hiking in the mountains. I was expecting a very basic visit and was pleasantly surprised at the scenery and the hostel in general. We arrived at nighttime (probably wouldn't recommend!) And the main road to the hostel looked quite daunting with no street lights! At 9pm...

Thank you for your detailed account of your stay with us. Just a few comments in response to clarify some areas; owing to our high altitude in the Drakensberg Mountains ( 1540metres), the healthy climate lends itself to pleasant summer evening and night temperatures and no humidity ,enabling good sleep . Air conditioners are thus not needed. However, the winters...

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. Sadly our big fluffy cat , Tana, whom everyone loved, has passed away. He was getting old but will be missed terribly!
